We Are The M1 Group. Originally founded on the 27th of May, 2012 as The M1 Productions Group, although our story does not begin here. 3 years prior in 2009 our director, Nick, tagged along on a DJ gig as a roadie with his uncle where he first experienced the world of Mobile DJing. A month later he purchased his own DJ set and embarked on his own journey as a mobile DJ.
After getting a few gigs here and there and months of bedroom DJing behind him, Nick’s big break came when his schools director allowed him to DJ at his school dances, which ran over 2 nights for different year groups, attracting just under 2,000 attendees.
Following the success of the dances, bookings kept coming through for Nick to DJ, getting to a point where he would have to turn down bookings to avoid double, triple and in some cases quintuple bookings. At this stage, Nick would bring his own friends along as roadies to help him out. At one of the gigs he gave his friend a camera and asked him to take setup shots of the party which he then uploaded onto Facebook. Some weeks later an enquiry came through for a DJ booking and the client also requested to have photography as well. It was at this point that Nick, 15, decided to create The M1 Productions Group as a one stop DJ and Photography company for parties. It was also a way for Nick to book more gigs in and hire other DJs out to them.
The name M1 comes from Nick’s last name, Mamone, which he broke up in 2 parts – Mam one, drop a few letters and you get M one (M1).
Over the years The M1 Productions Group had expanded their services to offer not only DJ and Photography, but Bartending, Drone Media, Hire, Videography, Event Productions as well as a Digital Agency, truly becoming a one stop event service provider. As we have grown out of our party productions roots, in 2019 the decision was made to change our name slightly to The M1 Group in order for the business to make more sense and to cater for our new Artist Agency and Management division.
