We would describe Simply Stems as a Boutique Florist that curates timeless & elegant floral arrangements for all occasions - letting the flowers speak for themselves, but also featuring considered giftware to compliment our arrangements. Based in Shepparton & Wangaratta, Northern Regional Victoria and established in 2010, Simply Stems has also grown to specialise in Wedding and Events and as well as floral tributes for honorary occasions.

I kicked the bucket with the Christmas promo stuff already. It’s just not for me. If my heart’s in it I’ll do some more. Otherwise. Back to normal programming. A Green & White Box in classic Black Wrap. Simple. But stunning.
Everyday floristry is what I love most. A gift for a Birthday or anniversary. A thinking of you to show sympathy or support. A just because. All those everyday moments.

Chocolate & Flowers.
My littlest son gave his Teachers and the Office Staff this Gift Box last year. I’m not sure what they thought. But he was proud as punch.
He actually told me he didn’t want me to come into the Office with him because they were his Office Ladies [his words] and he wanted to hand it over by himself [to make sure they knew it was from him. Not me]. He even practiced and practiced what he was going to say when he gave it. It was super cute. Although I’m sure if the bow would have still been tied perfectly when he handed it over.
Gosh they deserved the sweet treats and blooming flowers so much - they Welcomed us into their School & and helped us settle into our new life. And we were/are so grateful.
I am very much a believer in the unboxing experience. It’s part of the Simply experience. So this box comes closed with a gorgeous bow on the front. You open it up to layers of tissue and when you unseal the Simply Stems sticker and pull back the tissue layers you find a box full of flowers, chocolates and for a bit of fun, a bon bon to add a little traditional Christmas Cheer.

Christmas + me.
Yin + Yang. Love + Hate. However you want to put it, that’s Christmas + me.
I love the magical side. Like how it marks a time to stop and be with family and friends. Despise the pressure it creates. Am deeply saddened by the heightened awareness of loneliness some feel. And frightened by the amount of consumerism [I’m a minimalist at heart].
So. For me, jumping on the Christmas Advertising train is something I grapple with every. single. year.
And here we are again. That time of count downs and angst and also excitement and fun. And the big question. Do I join the Christmas marketing campaigns or not???
Well. I’m thinking a little yes and a little no. For the next 25 days I’m going to post a Christmas inspired post. But. There will be no count downs or time is running out urgency - AT ALL. Infact quite the contrary.
Most of all because I am what I would call, a last minute’r. I’ve been known to finish work on Christmas Eve and do the gift buying on my way home. On more than one occasion [ps. I don’t recommend - especially because TWICE my car has broken down in the car park on Christmas Eve. Truly. What are the chances?!
Truth is. If I did the buying before that. I wouldn’t be able to help myself and I’d have to give it before the big jolly day. And. I tried early birding it once at Easter and it wasn’t a good outcome. But that’s a story for another day.
Anywho. I hope you enjoy the next 25 days, of low key Christmas influenced posting ✨

Hey. Hi. Hello Yarrawonga.
It was one and a half years ago, that my Family made the decision to relocate to Yarrawonga. It all happened very very quickly and, within a period of a few weeks, we had upped and moved our whole life. It was … a whirlwind. And also, undoubtably, the best decision we have ever made for our kids. And therefore us - my husband and I - too.
At the time, I had two Flower Shops located in Shepparton and Wangaratta. And I said I would [NEVER] have my work based here in my new home town. But. We all know. You should never say never!
I loved switching into home mode as I drove back into town after a day at one of the Shops. And after almost 10 years by Simply’s side (I’m about to clock that Anniversary next week), the plan was to open stores around Victoria. Five to be exact. And that excited and drove me. Until it didn’t anymore.
What changed? Well that’s a long story, a lot like an onion. There are so many layers to it. But the one closest to my heart. Was my kids needing me more than ever. I’ve found that the older they get. And as their needs change. Coming to work with Mum doesn’t have the same ring to it as it did when they were little.
Major changes within the Business meant a rethink of how things now needed to work. And while I certainly don’t want to step on the toes of the other very talented local Florists. Closing two store fronts has left me with lots of materials. Temporarily sitting in my living room *willing* me to make them into gifts to be sent out - to loved ones, from loved ones.
This week I will begin moving into my little studio (and out of my lounge room!) and if my new home town sees fit. I’ll immerse myself in floral bliss via delivery orders from my beloved website [a labour of love over the past decade].
While I haven’t had a chance to nestle into my life here. My husband says this is his forever place, so I think it’s time I make it mine fully too!

Hug in a Mug.
We all need a hug from time to time. And these arrangements, when you can’t give a hug in person, are the next best thing.
If I’m honest, I could do with a big long squeezy hug right now! Two of my boys have had some medical stuff of late, completely different and unusual things [right on point for our Familys style]. We’ve had what feels like lots of doctor, surgeon and specialist appointments. Are they going to be ok? Yes. But it feels like an emotional roller coaster all the same.
Along side of that. And maybe also because of that? We are making some more big changes for Simply Stems. We will be farewelling Shepparton and soon [read very soon] will no longer be taking orders. It brings a multitude of emotions for me. Both good and sad. The saddest will be saying goodbye to some of our customers that have been with us for over a decade! I still to this day am amazed that people order with us, especially when they come back time and time again. It’s been such an honour.
But on the flip side to that… there is also huge relief. Finally being with my family, where they get the best of me, not the rest of me. I’ve been wanting and wishing for that for some time now. And so, here that moment finally is - not how I imagined. But here all the same.
Side note: I was chatting with a few people this week. And realised that this will leave a phone number with 13 years of history. Maybe it now belongs to you? For your new adventure or side hustle. If it sparks something in you, just give me a message.

We spent lots of time on creating the most beautiful candle range exclusive to Simply Stems. In Floral and Foilage scents, they are the perfect companion to our flowers. I wish we could sent smell through social media 🤍

After 13 incredible and wild years, the Universe has waved her magic and we are closing our Shepparton Store front.
On the same Day Simply Stems Shepparton opened her doors all those years ago, she’ll also be closing. Now how is that for magic!
We will be moving our in store goodies across to our Wangaratta Store and still be delivering the Shepparton region via online and phone.
If the last few years have taught me anything. It’s that simplicity is key. This is my try at achieving just that.
So, next Wednesday will be a day of beautiful celebration, memories and… The end of an era.

The moment you meet Shann, you’ll feel like you’ve just been wrapped in the warmest, friendliest, snugg’est hug.
She is the Store Manager at our Shepparton Store and the minute she stepped into that role. Simply’s magic sparked ✨. Partly because she is a little [read a lot] woo woo and partly because she is super clever & talented. And partly because her passion, love and belief in what we do at Simply.

It takes a Village.
When 2022 ✨finally✨ finished and then 2023 took another swing and unexpectedly hit me like a tonne of bricks. Knocked the wind out of me. And kicked me while I was down …[dramatic? Yes. But deservedly so!].
This wonder of a being showed me the greatest side of human kind. He propped me up until I could find my feet. And went above and beyond when I hit a very low point. And I know that there were some moments that were of great inconvenience for him. And yet he held me up anyway.
Just by being a great human, he helped me plant some seeds and build some foundations and now we get to watch that grow. [Just like his real life veggie garden actually - which i must say, is pretty darn incredible!]
Back to the analogy…. Of course, I’ve got to keep watering that garden and protect it from the ailments. I know along the way there will be some nail biting times - with the rain, frost and winter conditions.
But before this experience, I can say, hand on heart. I didn’t give my Village enough faith or appreciation. I didn’t know they would catch me when I would fall. And I didn’t know they would back me, until I could back myself again.
As we reach mid year of 2023, I am in a grateful place. Simply Stems has built [and will continue to build] a beautiful, beautiful Village and those seedlings we planted are beneath the soil, getting ready to sprout. The moment we see them popping up through the dirt, will be, one of the greatest of my working life.
And my personal Village? Well. I’m going to try to never take it for granted again. I might have learned. The hard way. But I realise just how lucky I am to have and have had, such wonderful people in my Village. To them all, I’m eternally grateful.

✨ Setting your intention for each day ✨
A morning ritual I love to do, is setting my intention for each day! Keeping it super. Simple.
At the start of each day of the week, I love to sit down and do some breath work, and set some intentions for the day ahead! Some super simple but powerful intentions could be; See the beauty around you (hard not too when we work with beautiful flowers and we have so many beautiful customers that we get to chat with every day.) CHOOSE to have a good day. Drink water. Breath. Move your body. Spread light.
To add to this, I also love to choose the crystals I am drawn too. This could be a constantly changing thing or i could be drawn to a single crystal for a long time.

Citrine - Happiness + Memory + Creativity.
Carnelian - Ambition + Energy + Action

Isn't it the hardest thing to do, getting in the bath!? A little like filling the car with fuel and going to the loo, if you ask me. Necessary, but so inconvenient. And yet, all of these things really make the biggest difference to our lives. I did some research about having a bath and found there's an update on an old saying; A bath a day, keeps the doctor away. And although I really like my local Dr, I do tell him every-time I visit, 'I hope I don't see you soon'. I did not know I could make that happen from having more baths! Another very interesting find was that, in order to relax, Marilyn Monroe once bathed in bubbles. Thats interesting why? You ask. They were the Champagne kind of bubbles, 350 bottles of it so she could take advantage of the grapes' naturally occurring antioxidants of course. Icon much? The third find was that you can greatly enhance your wellbeing by creating the perfect bath ritual. The key is to make it easy and luxurious. Set aside 20-30 minutes. Set the mood by lighting your favourite candle/s, diffuse your favourite essential oil, softly play music that makes you feel joy and then immerse in the warm and nurturing [Bath Soak enhanced- cough cough SOWHK] water. Ah, now that sounds like Bliss. I'm going to fix one now, I just hope I have enough Posh Plonk Wine on hand.
It’s not bright and cheerful right now. But the flowers still are. So that is what I will keep looking at. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ll use them as my ‘naturally bright and cheery things’ anchor. Hope they give you, if only but a second, of brightness too 🌈
