A press conference was organized at Holiday villa hotel, Gulshan-1 by Bangladesh Foundation for Tourism Development (BFTD) to apprise on recently concluded Moitri Tourism Road Show at Agartala, India from November 14 to 17, 2014 at 1pm followed by lunch.
Mr. H.M. Hakim Ali, chairman-BFTD presided over the session, Mr. Akhtaruz Zaman Khan Kabir, CEO of Bangladesh Tourism Board was the chief guest and Mr. Khokan Das from High commission of India, Mr. Rezaul Ekram Executive Director, BFTD, Mr. Akbaruddin, president TOAB spoke in the session.
Mr. Rezaul Ekram informed that BFTD is working for cost effective cross border tourism through establishing connectivity with stake holders of neighbouring countries. Tripura tourism Development Forum (TTDF) and BFTD in collaboration with Tripura tourism Development Corporation Ltd., organized the road show. There are many places of interest including Nuktijudho park, nilkomol are there to visit and tourists from Tripura also want to visit Chittagong, coxs Bazar. Tripura tourists feel that since India does not have travel tax, Bangladesh also should withdraw travel tax or can arrange payment of same to custom. Now more tourists fro tripura coming to Bangladesh than that of Bangladeshi tourists. One of slow outgoing tourists to tripura is there is no option by air if applied through tripura.
Mr. Hakim Ali said BFTD is pioneer in organizing Road shows in Bangladesh. BFTD organized similar event at Kolkata and London. After the event inflow of tourists from Kolkata increased, Given stress to organising more FAM tours for journalists, tour operators by BD tourism Board.Also focused to have detail work plan for Tourism year 2017. He appreciated the role and support of BTB extended to events organized by BFTD. He conveyed his thanks to honorable Tripura tourism Minister Mr. Ratan Bhoumik, TTDF, TTDCL, BTB, Shamoli pari Bahan and High commission of India for their cordial for the event
Mr. Khokan Das of Indian High commission assured of all possible support and co operation to visa issues for tourists visiting India.
Mr. Akber Uddin Ahmed, President TOAB said that we should not think any organization as our competitor but all tourism related organization should work together and support each other. He recalled his participation at Kolkata Road show organized by BFTD in 2012.
Mr. Akhtaruz Zaman Khan Kabir, CEO of Bangladesh Tourism Board informed that BTB will be organizing Road show abroad shortly and requested for support from BFTD as pioneer organization. Also assured their cooperation in all events.
There was 18 tour operators from Bangladesh join the road show in Agortola
