Truth Bomb:
- A larger floral arrangement is way better value than multiple tiny ones.
Don’t spread your floral budget out over a million tiny arrangements in fear that the venue will look too empty. Go for impact with an installation or a few larger arrangements instead! Those can also be moved from the ceremony to reception!

“Why spend money on wedding flowers that will just die a few days later?” First of all, how many times do you wear your wedding dress? And don’t you wash the wedding makeup off at the end of the night? How about that food… I’m pretty sure you’re not hanging onto that either…
Wedding days are not meant to last forever, they’re meant to be a special day with memories that last forever! And the look, feel, smell, of your flowers are a part of that. Memories and photos will be all you have of the day.. so why not look back on beautiful ones.

The best way to spend your wedding flower budget:
•
Movable floral arrangements. Not only can this large ground arrangement be moved from the ceremony to the reception, but it has way more impact than tiny isle flowers tied to the sides of chairs. The cost of those little bundles of isle flowers tied to chairs add up quick and don’t have a lot of impact once guests are sitting in the chairs, so I recommend you opt for a large statement piece instead that you can move to the reception!

If you’re planning a wedding for next August, take advantage of Dahlia Season! Local blooms are fresher, longer lasting, and have way more variety. Plus: supporting local flower farms is always a great idea! These beautiful dahlias are from beautiful garden.

Keep your flowers from melting in the heat during your wedding day! Here’s how:
1. Have a water source when possible! Sure loose flowers scattered on a table can be pretty, but in the heat they will look sad and dead.
2. Have vases available for your bouquets at the reception. This keeps them hydrated and acts as extra floral decor!
3. Certain flowers are NOT good for a hot day, trust your florist when they say no to a certain flower, especially in the bridal bouquet or boutonnières!

Do you like their style? Yup, it’s that simple. Even if you have reference photos of what you want it’s still important to like the style of your florist. Because they’ll add a little style everywhere they design!

Pay attention to this when choosing your florist and looking through portfolios:
Shape. Colour. Texture. Depth.
These are the elements that make up your dream wedding flowers, and contribute to WHY you like some flower arrangements/ bouquets and not others! Improper use of those elements and the flowers may fall flat in your wedding photos!

Make sure your bridal bouquet has SHORT stems! Here’s why:
In photos, you want to hold your stems close to your bellybutton with the bouquet facing slightly outward. If your stems are too long then you will be limited to holding your bouquet either completely straight up and down against your body with long green stems against your (probably white) dress. As soon as you try to angle it your arms will be awkwardly straight out in front of you, and not very natural or comfortable looking. If you’re buying beautiful wedding bouquets it would be a shame to not have them photograph well in the wedding photos you’ll be looking back on for the rest of your lives!

Short stems also look a lot cleaner and minimal… in my opinion 😉

Here’s why you should have colourful wedding flowers:

Sure, neutral and beige is pretty trendy right now (I truly love the neutrals) BUT having a tasteful pop of colour will photograph extremely well! The flowers will actually elevate the photos rather than blend in with the background. Plus your flowers will be way more unique and personalized. If you’re not sure what colours to go with, I would love to use my design knowledge to help you create a beautiful colour palette!
