Ryan M. Hemphill, an emerging potter working and teaching out of @studio72yeg, is the artist behind Fearful Symmetry. He received a Masters of Music in composition from the University of Victoria, where he developed an interdisciplinary art practice. With a love of learning and experimentation, Ryan has applied his musical experiences to refining his techniques and forms for wheel-thrown ceramics.

“An In-Between World” exhibition by W. P. Wagner High School art and STEM students is up at EAC Shop & Services until May 17! We opened the show with a reception this past Saturday, where we saw dozens of teachers, students, families and guests come by to cheer on the artists.
Featuring the works and collective efforts of over 20 students, the show reflects on the concepts of belonging and hybridization. From a slime mobile to traditional art practices like painting and collage, the students mixed media work celebrates the fusion of multiple perspectives and worldviews.
Come by the shop this week to check out the exhibition and support the show and artists by purchasing a commemorative postcard or ceramic ‘worry stone’ keychain, with proceeds going to the art programs at W. P. Wagner High School.

Pieces by @pebbleceramics are inspired by the beauty of beach sunsets to the first glimpses of leaves in the spring. Erin’s colour palettes reflect her travels and time in nature with the use of moss greens, ocean blues, and seashell pinks.

This name change helps us identify as part of the Edmonton Arts Council, where we work to support and uplift artists in the Edmonton area. Whether through providing grants, calls for public art projects, giving local artists a space to show their work, handling ticket sales for local theatre companies, folk clubs, chamber choirs, dance performers or festivals, or sharing arts-centered events in the city, we are your local artistic hub for all things Edmonton arts.

TIX on the Square has been owned and operated by the Edmonton Arts Council since 1997 and has served Edmonton’s arts community since.
