Another Ottawa example of community transmission. In early September, an individual with mild COVID-like symptoms attended an indoor wedding. At the wedding, there was no physical distancing or masks. 15 days later, 207 people were self-isolating & needed testing. Kids missed school, their parents had to take unexpected time off work, and testing lines were that much longer. Our. Actions. Matter.

Those planning weddings need to be very careful - you can still get married but think carefully about the guest count, think carefully about
the outdoor vs indoor aspects of your celebration. ( outdoor is always better than indoor )

POSTPONEMENT TIPS... TIP # 1 - THE WEDDING WINE TIME CAPSULE

POSTPONEMENT TIPS...
TIP # 1 - THE WEDDING WINE TIME CAPSULE

POSTPONED????
I shall be sharing tips to ease the sting and help you through this emotional time.
So many dear couples will not be celebrating as intended.
*TIP 1...
Wine Time Capsule invest in a nice bottle of wine and a pretty little box.. as a couple, take some time today to write a private letter to your love- seal this up and save for the future- a future when life seems more normalized. Perhaps that means on your new wedding date or maybe an anniversary a few months from now.
Be open, share your deepest hopes and fears about this experience. Share what you love about your honey and how your plan is unwavering . If your plan is to spend forever together- this is just a delay- not an end.
Crack this crate open, drink the wine, read your letters & reminisce down the road.

LOVE ISN'T CANCELLED!!!

MICRO WEDDING - get ready.. they are coming fast and furious to summer 2020!

For all of my postponed Spring and Summer weddings, I have suggested that it is wise not to let what should have been their wedding day pass without a plan to celebrate in some special way.

For some, that may mean a round of golf, a picnic or a special dinner.

For others, it really can mean an actual wedding - There is absolutely no reason why you cannot get legally or spiritually married on your original wedding day and then celebrate later with family and friends when it is safe to do so.

The two things are not mutually exclusive. For the micro wedding - maybe a cute, short white dress or a jumpsuit... save the big gown for the big public ceremony & party down the road.

With that in mind, I can help you to plan your perfect micro wedding day. It can be in a backyard or at the beach - with just the two of you or with a small group as is legally allowed for your particular day. ( planning services for this start at $650) - officiant/photo/flower/cake & champagne bundles are additional and start at $1000

Just to tempt you further - the GORGEOUS, HIGHLY COVETABLE GRAYDON HALL MANOR has launched "Lovely Little Weddings" - $800 gets you this dreamy location for your full use for 2 hours - you can do your ceremony with up to 10 people present and have Instagram worthy photos that will last you a lifetime. A full package, including this location rental, officiant, photographer, flowers, cake and planning services starts at $2650- hair & makeup and other goodies are also available.

Come on... make lemonade out of these lemons - this is your time to have the most beautiful little wedding EVER.

Message me for full details - I can't wait to help you celebrate!

Just a bit of food for thought...?

So your wedding has been postponed... have you thought about how you are going to cope on what should have been your wedding day?

You made the very difficult but very necessary decision not to get married in May/June/July and beyond - the hall has been re-booked, so has the florist, the photographer, the DJ, the cake .. the EVERYTHING.

However, the day will come - the day that was circled in your calendar with a bit heart. Your postponement probably didn't stop the countdown clock on the various wedding websites you have subscribed to... 34 days until you marry... 33 days until you marry....32 days until you marry... you get the picture right?

While you may have taken a big sigh of relief knowing that the day has been re-booked, I can tell you that you now need to make a plan for how to handle that very special day that would have been 'the day' - so what are you going to do about it?

Surely you are not going to stay in bed, head under covers, crying and resentful for what should have been the best day of your life?

I want you to think about how and what you can do to honour this day.

For some of my brides, those who really wanted to be legally or spiritually bound on a specific day - I did propose doing a micro ceremony. For some, this means that if they have or are able to soon obtain a marriage license, they can use their officiant to legally marry them on their original wedding day. This does not mean that you can't still have that big party down the road - of course you can!
You can do whatever you want... darling - no one can or should be judging anyone this year... we are at war with a horrible virus that has turned the planet upside down.

So - if you are able to or want to legally or spiritually marry on your original date - go for it... please do... it can be just the two of you, if restrictions have eased in your area, then you can have your inner circle of parents and or original bridal party. You can use your photographer to shoot you getting ready, you can get your florist to do your bouquet, you can order a mini cake - you can enjoy a private or small dinner for just the two of you or for your family and friends.

You can share the pictures and video on your big makeup date down the road. ( and yes, you can do a total vow renewal and proper ceremony in the future... do you have any idea how many big weddings I do where the couple were legally married at another point, usually in another city or country ? It's a lot... but most guests and sometimes family do not know

If you don't want to legally marry ( that's just fine too!) - PLEASE, PLEASE think of a way to celebrate the original day regardless

- this was the day that YOU picked...!!

Wake up that day at least a little excited.... get ready , put on your finery... get some photos, get some flowers and eat some cake. Tell the person you picked that you love them and pick them today, tomorrow and whatever day you re-booked for.... please make it special!

Love, Karina

What about your honeymoon?

So there's that to consider too.... what do you do?

If your wedding is coming up ( March/April/May - please re-think your honeymoon plans. Travel is severely impacted now but will resume, however your airline likely has fairly liberal policies presently. Maybe time to cancel that? Even if you are still holding hope that the wedding shall happen as scheduled, you will be able to re-book a trip down the road but I personally might suggest re-visiting how comfortable you feel travelling in the not too distant future even if things open up.

If you are getting married June/July /August - same advice applies. While I am not yet advocating that couples marrying in these months officially cancel or postpone their nuptials, I do think they may wish to investigate the cancelling or postponement of their honeymoon until things settle.

While that might cause you sadness.. you will likely be able to take advantage of some great sales that are bound to happen on luxury travel as this starts to resolve. The travel industry is being hit so hard but they will want and need you back - so if you can postpone those plans to book or that have been booked - perhaps do that.

A Honeymoon is lovely - but you will have other opportunities for travel and this is a "Want" not a "Need"

Best
Karina
