Join us at Treberfydd on Sunday 14 December, 6pm-8pm, for an evening of carols and (very good) canapés for . Tickets are £15 (cash or card on the door), with donations for 🍷. Carol singing by the piano from 7pm.

Back in early August, Sue and Mark had a beautiful wedding ceremony in the conservatory at Treberfydd, followed by drinks in the gardens and a meal in the billiard room.

Treberfydd is a special place for a smaller wedding - there are lots of spaces for family and friends to gather and explore, yet the house itself has an intimate, homely feel that makes for a truly memorable day (and evening) of celebrations.

This week we have been preparing the garden for more bulb planting, treating wooden doors, panelling and leather desks, polishing furniture, cleaning the leaded and stained glass windows, and chopping logs.

The temperature has plummeted but we now have a thick curtain by the back door, up-cycled by from an old bedroom curtain, that is keeping out the draught beautifully!

Following a sell-out performance of M.R. James’ ghost stories last weekend, will be returning to Treberfydd on Saturday 20 December for a festive classic, Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’.

‘Marley was dead: to begin with.’ On a snowy Christmas Eve, Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by a series of ghosts determined to show him how his cruel actions have affected the lives of others. Will Scrooge repent and accept the error of his ways, or continue down his dark path?

Told as Dickens did to friends and family at Christmas time, this candlelit, one-man performance by Toby Burchell is not to be missed.

Doors open 6.30pm, with the performance at 7pm. Mulled wine and mince pies available.

‘The saying ‘location, location, location’ could not be more true when it comes to Treberfydd. That’s not to say the actual accommodation wasn’t amazing - because it was. But to find ourselves in the grounds of a 19th-century gothic-style manor house, surrounded by hills, and oaks, and sheep, and horses… well, we were blown away. Despite it being late October, and the risk of grim weather being high, we were treated to spectacular autumnal colours, good doses of sunshine and some amazing hikes. We WILL be going back.’

*** Treberfydd House and gardens will be open to the public from Friday 29 August until Sunday 7 September, 1pm - 5pm daily, with house tours at 2pm and 3pm ***

£7.50pp for gardens plus house tour; £4.50 for gardens only. Children under 14 free. Cards or cash accepted, no booking required.

Picnics and well-behaved dogs on leads welcome; cream teas available in the house.

We will also be selling Treberfydd honey, cards by and bags of damsons and plums from the garden!

Happy first anniversary to Michela and Haris, who had a spectacular wedding over two days at Treberfydd last year. A Mehndi celebration the evening before was followed by a Nikah ceremony and Walima feast for 400 guests in a marquee below the house, looking across to the Black Mountains. A weekend of colour, ritual and celebrations to remember!
