This one popped up on my FB memories so I thought I'd share it again as I had so much fun doing it. Is based on MC Escher's night and day and was created for a friend who was leaving Saudi Arabia. The left of thw picture represents the UK and Fife where he lived and the right side Saudi Arabia. I couldn't get the aircraft to tessellate as MC Escher did with the birds in Night and Day but did manage to get them to morph out of the fields.

Painted in gouache on cream cartridge paper.

Memorial Poem

A memorial poem for a cherished mother. Circular floral border in gouache incorporating the poem's title and dedication and produced on cream goatskin parchment paper. The script is copperplate written in black Chinese ink.

Recent seating plan prepared as a gift for a friends son's wedding. Around 45cm x 45cm on a deep, cream parchment style card. Italic script with titles in silver and names in black Chinese ink.

The floral motifs are adapted from the couples wedding stationery and the emblem at the bottom links their family coats of arms.

Still keeping busy. Freedom of Entry to Doncaster Scroll for the Coldstream Guards, presented Friday 24 September.

65 x 32cm on vellum rendered with gold leaf, gouache and Chinese black ink. The scroll features:

The Doncaster Crest with Coldstream Guard supporters, one in modern combat uniform and the other in ceremonial uniform.

The cap badge of the Coldstream Guards and the Coldstream Guards Yorkshire regiments logo.

A painting of the Doncaster Councils civic building.

A border designed using the sleeve cuff of the Coldstream Guards ceremonial uniform and the white rose of Yorkshire.
