Although this one didn’t go to plan as it broke coming out of the mould I just wanted to share with you as the plant details on this were so beautiful. By making the larger pieces and using more varieties the textures are just incredible so I am going to keep working on mastering this. Here I used garden daisies, achillea, poppy seed heads, lavender, oregano, eryngium, echinops, tansy, rosemary and statice 🌼🌿💫

Hello! 👋 Well it’s been a while and the more time that passed the harder it felt to get back here so encouraged by a flowery friend I thought over the next few weeks I would share with you some of my new botanical projects that I’ve been experimenting with.
Most people that know me well know that I have struggled with a long term spine injury for most of my life, I have always been determined to not let it get in the way of the things I love but sadly over more recent years that has become the case. I always find it amazing to watch other people as I actually can’t even remember a day that I wasn’t in pain with my back, I think I was around the age of 12. Anyway it’s a very boring and annoying problem but despite years of pain relief medication, injections, nerve blocks, spinal fusion surgery and endless physios, chiropractors, yoga and health advice I have just managed it until last summer when right in the middle of a very busy flower growing and wedding season I had to suddenly stop one of my painkillers because they had caused me some other really nasty problem. Unfortunately this left me limping through the rest of wedding season in a lot of pain so I’ve had to make some decisions for looking after my back for the rest of my life. When the surgeon fitted a metal cage to stabilise my spine ten years ago he told me there were two main things he was worried would cause me a problem; the first was heavy lifting and the second was falling off my horse, I try very hard not to do the latter but unfortunately both flower growing and styling large scale floral events involve a lot of physical work and heavy lifting so something had to change. I have had to scale back all my large events and have been learning more about different art processes using plants from my own garden and the wild hedgerows.
If you’re still here thank you and apologies it’s such a long one but I felt somehow I needed to share some sort of explanation!

The last of the dahlias yesterday before the frost took them all ❄️🥀
It’s been a good year for them with plenty of rain through the summer. No season is ever the same with flower growing, last autumn was so mild they were flowering almost to the end of November 🌸🍂❄️🥀

The flowers are slowing down now but they have given so much this year. With all the rain over summer the garden has kept quite green and healthy unlike the two previous summers we’ve had when everything felt burnt and I struggled to keep things coming and staying fresh. There’s quite a balance to strike with this flower growing thing and one year is never the same as the last so predicting timings for production can be tricky and stressful at times but my garden has given me it’s best shot this year and now it’s mainly down to the dahlias, roses and some late summer/autumn blooms to keep it flourishing until I put everything to bed for another winter 🌞🌼🌸🧡

I had such a beautiful and creative day last week when I joined mumma and baby photographer on a shoot.
Charlotte and her husband Sam were one of my wedding couples over five years ago and now they have their own little boy Noah Charlotte is running her own photography business for modern parent and baby portraits. Charlotte contacted me and we had a chat about a flowery collaboration which I really liked the idea of getting involved in.
I was excited to set up the floral installations for the day but also just as excited to finally get my own camera out again after having very little time this year and although felt quite rusty on settings I was quite happy with how some of these came out.
Thank you to all of our gorgeous models who were amazing 🤩🌞🌼🧡👌🏼💫
First up were the adorable .roses and Flynn who was just a total star at only 3 months old.
I hope you feel I captured some special moments with your gorgeous little boy Lola, it was so lovely to meet you both 🌼🤎

Two years ago I had the privilege of transforming this stunning library into “a walk through the Colne Valley” for the annual flower festival curated by .chappell.flowers and
Unfortunately I haven’t been able to make it back since then due to my own busy work commitments but it is a truly wonderful exhibition to visit and being held again this weekend. Starting today until Sunday the festival is a glorious collaboration of some of our most creative and talented British flower growers and floral stylists coming together to design and construct the most beautiful displays in this magical little castle. Every design is made with ethically grown british flowers using only sustainable floristry techniques and without the use of floral foam and unnecessary single use plastic mechanics.
Wishing Leigh, Janne and all my flowery friends who are there this weekend a truly wonderful time at the magnificent home of Horace Walpole. I know it’s going to be very special again and I’m sorry I couldn’t be there with you all to take part 🌺🌸🏰🍓xx
