Possibly our youngest workshopped called in today to finish my demo wreath off ... still not quite sure about all his placements but he loved it and that’s all that counts!
Our wreath is proudly in the door and I am imagining the others from today doing the same - always so lovely to spend time creating, chatting and thinking the occasional Christmas thought!
National Trust tomorrow and then one last workshop this year on Wednesday 8th December - we have a large hall with lots of space to distance and a few places left 🎄😉

It’s winter garden time! I love seeing the frost like this and when bits of the garden structure are right it really shows (and the bits that aren’t right actually 🤭)

Last year I had fun writing the instructions for our debut wreath kits and now this year I can just print them off again! Choose from 'Natural' or 'Gold highlights' with a beautiful pre made base and I will put together a selection of decorations for you to complete your wreath at home.
Kits are £40 and I can deliver on Friday 26th November on my usual last Friday of the month round, or can arrange delivery / collection to suit you.
The wreaths will last well into the New Year so there's no need to rush to finish them off. Maybe ask friends round for a festive glass of something and make an evening of it?

In the three and a half years that the shop has been I have become a grandparent to four perfect human beings, this little one being the youngest. We have a coffee date for most of November (I’m taking October off) and the last proper shop day is tomorrow!

Pink and Rose news!

After three and a half years of really enjoying shop life, it’s time for a change of direction and the shop at The Old Potato Yard will be closing the doors for the last time at the end of this month.
Thank you to all the lovely customers I’ve met and chatted gardens and flowers and a few things in between with!
Pink and Rose will continue in business with last Friday of the month flower deliveries, occasional workshops and a pop up shop now and then.
If you’d like to know when these are happening and have the option of flowers each month (no obligation) please make sure Sue has your email and she will very occasionally send you a quick message.
Meanwhile the shop is open today and next Friday and Saturday for shopping and chat!

I love planning our Frequent Flowers orders for customers. Each month I make sure there is a different colour palette and ring the changes with beautiful choices of flowers and foliage.
The idea of the subscription is NOT to tie you in every month - you can pay for a few months in advance or each month at a time and you can skip or cancel anytime ....it's more like a flower reminder package!
Treat yourself or someone else special, to either a cut stem collection or an already arranged bouquet and then all you need to do is enjoy.

Such beautiful British blooms in my delivery this morning from growers Smith and Munson in Lincolnshire. I love using British flowers and along with my own cutting patch want to include more and more this year. I also love the variety that buying in from Holland gives so it will often be mix and match!
Favourites from my cutting patch at the moment are h**e and pittisporum - both really useful for colourful and long lasting foliage plants.

Would you like to know some of the design and practical techniques to help you create beautiful flowers for the home? I have really missed not being able to run workshops from my show (or in village halls before the shop!) but am so looking forward to this year's summer school with Marlborough College. I am running the Introductory course week beginning 12th May and the very first session is all about arranging in a jug just like this one!
Will think about starting about workshops again soon but meanwhile check out the huge choice on the Marlborough college site 🌷

We're open! The door is open, the furniture is dusted, the hand sanitiser is out but much more importantly the flowers are in and looking so pretty 🌸

Fresh as a daisy (excuse the pun) direct to me from the grower in Holland, isn't that an amazing feat of a supply chain!
This Cream Beach Gerbera is a classic radial / focal flower because it draws the eye and says 'look at me' in a mixed arrangement. If you've ever done the 'jug' workshop with me, you will know what I'm talking about. Jugs are part of my Introduction week at Marlborough College Summer School btw and you can now book on, check out the details Marlborough College Summer School
These beauties are going out in tomorrow's orders and deliveries including March flower subscriptions. Still time to order!

We had an amazing Mothering Sunday weekend with lots of lovely orders and loads of great feedback from customers ... thank you 🙏
It's time for a spring clean in the shop this week and beginning to think about when we can re-open the doors... I can feel a list coming on.
Meanwhile we are still working with deliveries as well as click and collect for flowers, bulbs and planters. Next week it's the last Friday of the month too which means 'Fresh Flowers Frequently' subscription flowers going out and there's still time to order 🌸

We have beautiful 'spring themed' bouquets planned for this coming Mother's Day weekend (yes! it's this Sunday!) which you can still order but we also have these pretty zinc planters.
The colour of the violas vary - we also have white and purple - but they all make a lovely splash of spring colour just outside the door or the window. The violas will last for weeks and weeks and the little Muscari bulbs are about to flower so lots to look at and enjoy!

This size is £22 but just ask if you need something larger 🌸

There's so many reasons to enjoy flowers...it doesn't need to be a birthday, an anniversary, a congratulations, a get better soon, an apology, a thinking of you, an I love you, a welcome, a can't wait to see you... it could just be because we deserve them! (and we do)
All our bouquets are 'florist choice' which means there's no stock photos or a static menu. I order a different selection every week direct from the Growers so I can adjust the selection according to the season, my current inspiration and the best value. If you get in touch and say ... 'can you do me a bouquet with his favourite flowers freesias?' ... I might be able to do that too!

I've been enjoying my Friday deliveries out and about. Our free Friday delivery zone is huge... all the way from Urchfont / Devizes / Avebury / Marlborough / Pewsey and back through the Pewsey Vale.

February means Valentine's Day! I'm not saying I have NOTHING else to put on my lovely calendar but let's say it's quite a key date for the florist part of my life.

I will be delivering your orders on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th ready for SUNDAY 14th and the plan is for lots of lovely flowers in mixed bouquets on a love theme (obviously)... that means pinks, reds, creams, greens and whatever I find which is love....ly. There's also a few red roses for any traditionalists out there.

Order for someone (that's anyone) you love, order for yourself, make sure someone else orders but just make sure you order. When they're gone they're gone they’re gone.

It was so lovely to be back with flowers and delivering around, and a bit beyond, the Pewsey Vale today.
I went for this zingy orange and white theme with tulips, ascelpia, agapanthus, p***y willow and more - this late winter season feels full of hope but earthy and sparkly: think frost and snowdrops and hedgerows and you are part way there!
Our next flower deliveries will be Valentines and so it will be much more blush pink and hearts and love and some peace although I think no red roses this year: it's a year for change!

I'm just planning this week's flower order which I am able to buy in directly and super fresh from growers - usually in Holland. Every order I make I choose a different selection of flowers dependant on the season and where we are in the year. Today's snow doesn't mean I will go all white: I think we need a bit of the hope of spring this week!
Free (and covid secure) delivery on Friday from Devizes, beyond Avebury, out to Marlborough and Pewsey and all the way round back to Urchfont. We will be delivering out Subscription service flowers which include cut stem collections which begin at £15 as well as gift bouquets but you can also order a one off.
Why not treat yourself to some Spring time colour or send some to someone else to say you are thinking of them.

Need some cheering up on this Blue Monday?

I spent a short while in the garden hunting signs of spring today and found lots of be hopeful about... snowdrops showing colour, one crocus out, hyacinths about to spring into action and these bits and pieces for my bottle demo.

January is a natural hibernation time it seems to me but there’s still scope to plan and dream of months to come. I’m really enjoying my new Claire Austin book ... full of interesting planting schemes, sensible care notes, best varieties to choose but unusually and inspiringly notes for cutting and even arranging FLOWERS 🌸 ... the gardener florist in me approves.
So I have my garden notebook out and a list of plant treats is emerging.

So what do we say... Happy New Year already seems a bit last week... 'Oh no' another Lockdown seems a bit pointless....so I've gone for a simple HELLO!
I hope all the lovely Pink and Rose customers can see their way through the next few weeks with some hope for better times ahead.
I've been taking a little time off to see what happens next in the world and now we know! The Pink and Rose shop is closed again of course although we will be continuing with deliveries and collection from the shop very soon. Watch this space and just get in touch with any enquiry.
