Less than one day until Jazz in the Quad! 1pm start in the Quad (gates open 12.30). Featuring all of our bands, many Year 13 Leavers and some special performances! To get you in the mood, here’s the finale to our November Showcase where 1st Wind Band played Ted Rickett’s fabulous arrangement of Woodstock classics including Pinball Wizard, Proud Mary and A Little Help From My Friends!

JOB VACANCY:
The RGS High Wycombe Music Department is looking for a new part-time Music Administrator to start from September (flexible with days).

Do share the below part-time job. You'll be working in a fab department with so many top-level young musicians, excellent GCSE/A-Level results, lots of concerts and genuinely lovely people to work alongside in the office and in the wider school.

Last batch of tickets released for Thursday’s Spring Showcase concert - 7pm in Queen’s Hall. Featuring all choirs, string groups, wind bands, jazz bands and a few extra surprises! For some Leavers, it will be their last concert in Queen’s Hall. Would be fab to have another sellout and look forward to seeing you there!!

Far from giving offence, Mel Brook's musical has now acquired an extra patina of charm. It is a sign of liberal progress that we can afford to laugh at the stereotypes of yesteryear. As you can see, Max, Leo and Franz know it’s one more sleep until tomorrow’s opening night! The cast, band, tech and production teams have worked tirelessly over the past four days with the largest set ever to fit on the Queen’s Hall stage! Christmas Greetings from the RGS Music Department!

Despite the tricky snow conditions and illness going around, just over three weeks since the November Showcase concert, here is a recording of the live Carol Service involving 200 students on the 12th December. All Saints Church was packed to capacity! Please share with friends and family, and wishing you all a lovely Christmas break!

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT TIME! I am delighted to say that, for the second consecutive year, the RGS Music department has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Music & Drama Education Awards 2023 in the category ‘Outstanding Music Department’.

This recognises “an exemplary department which goes above and beyond in the pursuit of excellence in music provision. Staff in the department go out of their way to ensure that a significant proportion of students benefit from access to music and to musical opportunities in and out of school, within the necessary constraints of financial and time allocation.”

A MASSIVE thank you to all of the RGS community that have given so much for this to happen!

As we hurtle toward half term with gathering speed, there’s an opportunity to take a little time out and enjoy a relaxed,music-filled evening before we break up.
With cabaret style seating, music from our more senior ensembles and soloists (and a couple of staff performances too), the evening is interspersed with small segments of our Friends of Music AGM.
Date: Weds 19 October
Time: 7pm
Place: The Queen’s Hall, RGS
