Our Stand & Deliver Halloween edition took place on Friday 25th October in our old home of the Deben Lounge.
And what a great night it was, with some super performances & great inventive outfits for the occasion.
The evening began with a presentation to both Teresa & Les on becoming the latest members of our '30 Performances Club'. Well done you two - & great costumes too! The music then began from...
Teresa & Les accompanied by Steve: on a fang-tastic trio of 'Zombie', 'Werewolves Of London' & 'Devil Gate Drive'.
Pauline & Tony: firstly trick-or-treating us to 'Witches Hat', before Pauline took up the trumpet & Steve joined on bass for 'I Get The Blues'.
Tony: completed their set with the super 'Ghost Of The St. Louis Blues'.
Karen: flying solo this time for her great songs - 'Femme Fatale', 'Psycho Killer' & 'Hedgehog Poo'. Yes - that really is the song title.🦔
Neil C: with a super spooky trio of 'Every Breath You Take', 'Overseas' & 'If We Were Vampires'. Try to spot Neil in the group photo. (A big clue - he's somewhere near the spider!)
George: making a very welcome return now that the cricket season is over🏏with his super mature compositions 'Tide Is High' & 'The Sea', followed by old favourite 'Bad Moon Rising'.
Dawn & Kevin: after much toil & trouble, we brewed up 'Witchy Woman' & the illuminating 'Put Your Lights On'.
Neal H: with firstly 'Finer Things' - where Kevin joined on harmonica, followed by 'Wondering Why' & an absolutely cracking version of 'Castle On The Hill'. Thanks Neal! Great to see you at Stand & Deliver again.
Kevin: joined by Dawn, Tony, Steve & Joy to give 'Monster Mash' it's annual ghoulish outing.
Joy & Tony: firstly accompanied by Kevin, Steve & Dawn on 'Mary Jane's Last Dance', before...
Joy, Tony & Steve: continued with a very spooky - 'Spooky' & 'What A Beautiful Day'.
Derek: with a smooth trio of 'Sometimes When We Touch', 'Born Free' & 'Just Another Day In Paradise'.
John, Sarah, Sophie & Kevin B: with a bewitching set of 'Season Of The Witch', 'Witch Queen Of New Orleans' & the splendid 'Rhiannon'. We hope you will all join us again very soon.
Keith: firstly accompanied by Tony D. on the eerie 'Talking Vampire Blues', then Keith on his own 'This Guy At Night' followed by 'First Time I Met The Blues'.
Sarah & Peter: & their suitably dark choices of 'Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)', 'White Rabbit' - NOT the fluffy variety & 'The Mercy Seat'.
The finale' involved...
Dawn, Kevin & Steve: with 'our' version of 'Psycho Killer', before...
Keira & Neal: gave us their Boo-tiful rendition of 'Heather', & finally...
Teresa, Les & Steve: rounded off the evening with the haunting 'Spirit In The Sky' & 'When The Saints Go Marching In'.
Wow...what a night!
Thank you to all our super performers for joining in the 'spirit' of the occasion & thank you as ever to our sound wizard Brian.
It was great to see so many audience members joining us too.
We resume on Friday 29th November & we hope to see you then.

September's Stand & Deliver took place in Debenham Community Centre on Friday 27th.
Kevin: kicked off edition number 104 with 'Ghost Of Tom Joad', followed by...
Steve & Nick: birthday boy Steve combining vocals & bass for the amusing & very enjoyable 'I Don't Look Good Naked Anymore'.
Margaret, Nick & Steve: followed on with the delightful 'Try To Remember'.
Nick & Steve: then continued with Nick on lead vocals for a super duo of 'Wonderwall' & 'Livin' On A Prayer'.
Keith: with a stylish trio of 'Cafe' Artistique', Muddy Water's 'Nine Below Zero' & then his own composition 'The Green Fingernail'.
The Brinkleys: with super vocals & various instruments - double bass, oboe, ukulele & mandolin ( although not necessarily all at the same time!) on their great song selection of 'The Galway Girl', 'Oh Watch The Stars' & 'Cousin Jack'.
Wendy: back with her shiny new ukulele & a polished performance of 'Songbird', 'What's Up' & 'Scarborough Fair'.
John & Sarah: John on guitar for his 2nd consecutive appearance , together with beautiful vocals by Sarah - who we haven't seen for quite a while. They treated us to a cracking trio of 'Use Somebody', 'Mary's In India' & this reporter's favourite song on the night - 'Titanium'.
Peter W: then stepped up - to take a seat, with 5 of his fine poetic compositions - 'The Watertower', 'The Animal Sculpture', 'My Dog Sid', 'In The Light Of The Headlamps' & 'The End Of Something'.
Joy, Tony, Steve & Eamonn: ( The Unexpected ) on vocals, guitar, bass & mandolin respectively & an excellent trio of 'Cider Rain', 'What A Beautiful Day' & 'Pay Me My Money Down'.
Following the interval...
Dawn & Kevin: began the 2nd half with a T Rex double of 'Children Of The Revolution'/ 'Get It On' followed by 'Budapest' ( on which Nick enthusiastically joined in with some high Oooohs! ) & then finally 'Flowers'.
Les: on this occasion without the lovely Teresa, but sporting another lovely colourful shirt & with his trusty electric guitar on a splendid duo of 'Eve Of Destruction' & 'Hero'.
Pauline & Tony: with super harmonies on 'Cod'ine' & 'Still My Thoughts Go Back To You', before...
Tony: rounded up with Buffy Sainte-Marie's 'Don't Know Much'.
Alan & Gerry: with their unique take on 'Maggie May', followed by 'The Boxer' & 'Wake Up Little Sister'.
Neil: on sparkling form with the great 'Goddamn Lonely Love' & 'Cleveland County Blues', before being joined by Sarah for a splendid 'Stockholm'.
The evening's finale' involved collaborations between Pauline, Nick, Steve & the 2 Tony's + brought some of us to the dance floor for firstly 'The Wonder Of You' & finally 'Achy, Breaky Heart'.
Thanks everyone!
Another splendid evening of entertainment, ably assisted as ever by Brian on the mixing desk.
Special thanks also to the 2 Steves - who regularly stay behind to help clear away the room. Your help is greatly appreciated.
We resume on Friday 25th October - which will be our annual Halloween special.
Spooky songs & outfits strongly encouraged - but are not compulsory.
We hope to see you there.

Friday 30th August - Stand & Deliver number 103 - began with a double presentation to Karen & Karen!
Karen W on her 50th appearance with us + Karen E on her 30th. Well done girls, we really appreciate your support for our open mic evenings & we love to hear your songs. Therefore, starting off had to be...
The 3 Brinkleys: with a super trio of numbers - the 2 Karens joined by Eamonn on guitar for 'Kiss From A Rose', 'Summertime' & 'Sailing'.
Neil: following on superbly with 'Watch Over You', 'St. Peter's Autograph' & the topical Oasis number 'Talk Tonight'.
Sarah & Peter: with a cracking set of the not-quite-so-fluffy 'White Rabbit', followed by 'Taking My Business Elsewhere' & 'The Ship Song'.
Alan & Gerry: with their offerings of 'Africa' & 'Solsbury Hill' as well as being bolstered by Tony & Joy on 'Creeque Alley'.
Steve & Marcia (Soncraeft) : on a fine folky journey of 'Long May You Run', 'You Can't Take It With You' & 'When I'm Dead And Gone'.
Peter Warren: joining us after quite a break, with 7 of his own poetic compositions over the course of the evening which included 'Reflections', 'Eric The Cockerel', 'Love Bug' & 'At The End'.
Tony D: beginning with the very amusing 'It Was Only A Gypsy' & an extremely short poem reflecting on his grandchildren's recent stay, followed by Dylan's 'Mr. Tambourine Man'.
Dawn & Kevin: making it a Dylan double with 'Is Your Love In Vain', followed by 'Love On The Rocks' & the Stereophonics' 'You're My Star'.
Les & Teresa: with Teresa's beautiful vocals on 'I'll Be There' & 'A Little Respect', before Les gave us a great rendition of 'Dakota'. (The Stereophonics strike again!)
Derek: making a surprise but welcome appearance with 'I Love You Baby', his own Costa Rican inspired composition 'Pura Vida' & then 'It's Another Day In Paradise'.
Margaret & Nick: with a lovely rendition of 'Moon River' & then...
Nick & Steve: following on with a super 'Who Knows Where The Time Goes' & then 'Parisienne Walkways', which saw the anniversary couple + Tony & Val up on the dance floor.
Wendy: after a lengthy absence she returned for a performance spot with a new ukulele (no doubt less pricey than the previous Xmas gift) & with her song choice of 'My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean', 'Jolene' & 'Dreams'.
Tony, Joy, Steve & Eamonn: with the latter on slide guitar, Tony on guitar & a touch of harmonica, Steve on trusty bass & Joy on vocals for a very enjoyable 'Doctor My Eyes', 'Just Can't Get Enough' & 'Harvest Moon'.
Keith: in mellow mood for his trio of 'Devil's Daughter', 'I've Got News For You' & 'In The Wee Midnight Hour'.
John Chapman: on his Stand & Deliver debut with a fine duo of 'Buy Dirt' & 'What A Beautiful Day'. It's always good to welcome along a new face to add to our regular performers. And then finally - an old face...
Myself: with a song especially chosen & performed for my lovely wife (who writes this stuff??) ...'If I Were A Carpenter'.
The evening's finale' involved:
Nick, Marcia + the 2 Steves: for an excellent rendition of 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'.
What a great way to end the night - a session that went into extra time & almost to penalties...with 42 songs + 7 poems in all.
Many thanks to Brian on the mixer (aided by Ollie) & to our bumper audience who joined us in the Community Centre - especially those who stayed on to the end.
We should be back there on Friday 27th September & we hope to see you then.
