Based in Scotland and very happy to travel throughout the UK, Shine Bright Entertainments is a professional theatrical production company that specialises in providing warm-hearted musical theatre for the community that includes people of all ages with learning difficulties; care homes; nursing homes; sheltered housing units; community groups; village halls; residential units for young or older pe
ople and private events. Run by 2015 Musical Theatre graduate Steffi Rollo and 2009 Performance graduate Glynis Wozniak, Shine Bright Entertainments has a broad repertoire of songs for your enjoyment. All our shows are original and we often add a personal touch to the area we are are performing in. We tend to keep material to an hour's length believing this to be the optimum time for energy and focus for care home residents. We prefer to use humour and avoid melancholy, so keep subject matter interesting yet light-hearted. We include age-appropriate anecdotes and songs with great appeal so that our audience can join in when able. We have witnessed first hand how healing music and the performing arts are to residents of all ages and feel honoured to be able to ignite the spark of laughter and life that is so often clouded by those experiencing dementia or Alzheimer's. We are touring When I Was Young ~ a fun show that sees the elderly Nessie interrupt a concert being given by Janet (played by Steffi Rollo) to reminisce about her youth in the dance halls of Glasgow and Edinburgh that teaches Janet a thing or two about life. Oh, there's life in the old dog yet and as you will know from your residents, once mischievous, always mischievous! Laugh and reminisce as we take you on a musical journey to brighten your day with When I Was Young and keep an eye on our page for new shows in the coming seasons. However, we are also taking bookings for our special Christmas show, Merry Christmas, Darling ~ which celebrates Christmas by looking at traditions from Victorian times and the 1920s. To celebrate, we are offering a special discount on multiple bookings. We can be contacted via our page: https://www.facebook.com/Shine-Bright-Entertainments
Whilst setting up yesterday, an adaptor and cable seemed to have lost contact with my PA system.
The very helpful Activity Coordinator and I did everything to resolve the issue, and I even attempted to Bluetooth my music through the home's smart TV, but it wasn't having it.
In the end, I played the music through my phone and amplified my voice through the microphone, and lots of residents joined in.
What could have been a disaster of no entertainment turned into an absolute delight as I was determined to deliver what I had promised, and everyone was so lovely about it so I still managed to keep smiling.
Two new parts to be ordered urgently!

For my next set of headshots, I wanted to be as diverse as possible, so I slumped my back in no make up to look older and moved on in varying degrees.

There is an amazing opportunity awaiting the right person.
Ideally a broad build, but must be tall.

With my Calamity Jane costumes being in the loft for 3 years, I had to wash them all - and then iron them!
The only thing that doesn't fit is my ballgown 🙈 Fortunately I have another.
The one good thing about that is I rehearsed my show at the same time - yet now I'm shattered 😂
23/10/2022
On Tuesday, I will perform my first Calamity Jane show in 3 years.
As I was rehearsing today, a memory came to me.
During one show in a sheltered housing unit, I sang with a resident who happened to be a former opera singer who was very casually dressed.
The next time I came, that same lady was dressed in a sophisticated black outfit with sparkling crystals.
I said, 'You look so beautiful!' and she replied saying, 'I dressed up because I knew you were coming.' 🥺🥰🥺
Performance means so much to so many and I am so looking forward to performing again - this time for a dementia group in Lanark.
04/10/2022
With the current restrictions in place to perform in care homes, my Calamity Jane costumes and set have been packed away in the loft.
Let's trust they still fit because I've been hired to do a Calamity Jane show for dementia group later this month

My very first collaboration is with the very talented Sally Dudleston of Sally's Sofa who inspired this idea. Sally creates beautiful characters lovingly hand made in felt. True characters that warm your heart.
What difference could we make in the world if children felt good about who they were no matter what? If they had a friend to guide them through their fears alongside a downloadable audio story narrated in a gentle voice. Or a story to celebrate all they are.
There are two characters to choose from. This is our dinosaur ❤ and the introductory price is just £12.

I'm doing a self tape course. Of course there's bloopers: adjusting my wobbly glasses; shushing my daughter's dog who was scratching to get in - and her hurtling herself at the door to get in 🤣 Gx
Shine Bright Entertainments is a professional theatre and entertainment company that specialises in providing warm-hearted musical theatre for people of all ages, including nurseries; primary and secondary schools; people of all ages with learning difficulties; care homes; nursing homes; sheltered housing units; community groups; village halls; residential units for young or older people and private events.
Our speciality is our personal touch and we perform ‘with’ and not just ‘to’ our audience. We thrive on creativity and can create a show on practically any theme you desire.
Working with all age groups from the very young, we host ballet birthday parties in your home with beautiful exercises at the barre; ballet stories and games culminating in a choreographed performance to show proud parents.
Run by 2015 Musical Theatre graduate Steffi Rollo and 2009 Performance graduate Glynis Wozniak, Shine Bright Entertainments has a broad repertoire of well-known and beloved songs for your enjoyment. Based near the borders of Scotland, we travel throughout the UK.
All our shows are original and written by Glynis. We tend to keep material to an hour's length believing this to be the optimum time for energy and focus for care home residents, but also do longer singalong shows for pubs, clubs, village and town halls, or for care homes on request.
We use humour to keep subject matter interesting yet light-hearted and include anecdotes and songs with great appeal so that our audience can join in when able and we are praised for being so interactive with the audience.
We have witnessed first hand how healing music and the performing arts are to residents of all ages and feel honoured to be able to ignite the spark of laughter and life that is so often clouded by those experiencing dementia or Alzheimer's.
Current shows include our hugely popular solo show, THE DEADWOOD STAGE. Adapted from Doris Day’s famous film, Glynis portrays the whole story of Calamity Jane in character and not only includes all the well-known songs from the movie such as Windy City; Higher than a Hawk and Black Hills of Dakota, but several others to tie in with this hilarious tale. It really is a funny yet touching show that has received rave reviews from the Aberdeen to Weston-super-Mare.
SECRET LOVE is a solo show that is sweet yet funny. Set in 1951, it touches on the theme of when community was important and love was altogether more innocent. Some details were taken from care home residents’ own stories and everyone gets behind Olivia as she looks for love; finds love; loses love and then finds it again with a wondrous twist. Songs include I Feel Pretty; Consider Yourself; People Will Say We’re in Love; If I Were a Rich Man and many more.
We also have the very funny Summer Love, which sees Auntie Betti ‘with an i’ going abroad for the first time. Much hilarity ensues as she mucks up her passport photo; misses her flight; gets saved by Sir Richard Branson and has a holiday romance. Lots of songs from the 60s are including, such as Summer Holiday; King of the Road; California Dreaming; Some Enchanted Evening; Sailing; Beyond the Sea and others.
Let us help your residents laugh and reminisce as we take you on a musical journey to brighten your day with THE DEADWOOD STAGE; SECRET LOVE; SUMMER LOVE, or several singalong cabaret-style shows, like SPRING HOPE and new show KEEP IT UNDER YOUR HAT. You will be pleased whilst, as members of Equity we guarantee our performers a fair wage, we are highly competitive and flexible to your needs and have invested in excellent equipment and beautiful, authentic costumes.
We can be contacted via our page: https://www.facebook.com/Shine-Bright-Entertainments By e-mail at: [email protected] or by calling Glynis on 07549940140.
