Better late than never, today’s . To my new followers I’m Teanne (florist behind Shirley Blossoms).

🌺During lockdown 2020 I started this page to document my floral designs which I was creating to improve my mental wellbeing when I wasn’t able to produce events at my second company We Are Parable.

🌼I soon realised that floral design was a creative outlet that excites me..it gives me a sense of calm and reflection.

🌻Fast forward to January 2021, I took the leap to set up as a independent part time florist, and have never looked back. 🙌🏾My services include workshop facilitation, special floral commissions and event floristry.

To celebrate Picador books re-issue of five books, Dark Matter invited me to along to deliver a Caribbean flower arranging workshop.

The Antiguan -American novelist Jamaica Kincaid loves flowers and gardening, so it was an honour to deliver this session. I shared my story into floral design, basic floristry techniques and fun facts about tropical flowers 🌺 🌷🌼

Everyone produced such lovely vibrant arrangements, many were doing it for the first time and the best part was they all took them home afterwards!

Where I delivered a drop-in flower arranging workshop titled “Flowers bring us joy” and facilitated discussions around well being & self care, to captive and engaged audience of 60+ people!

Nature surrounding Black River… the water is actually clear in Black River it’s the bed of the river that’s dark in colour which gives the impression that the water is dull… Home to hundreds of 🐊 (swipe to see a pic). From water lilies to mangroves (a protected plant in Jamaica) to snake cactus a beautiful natural treasure.
I also learnt that Black River was one of the first places to have electricity!
