A very slow beginning to 2024. Still thinking about all the wonderful times we’ve had over the last couple of weeks, walking, cooking and just enjoying the slow nature of the days and each others company.

I planted a the last few roses yesterday, I can’t wait to see them flower come June. This winter I’ve planted more shrub roses for future weddings plus 5 rambling roses to grow over the temporary poly tunnel frame which I used when I first moved to the field, (it really wasn’t a poly tunnel it kept getting getting blown over), in a couple of years it will be a mass of roses.

Join me for an evening of creativitity to make a wild garden inspired Christmas wreath to adorn your front door or home for the festive season.

To help get us in the seasonal spirit, our hosts are creating a festive beverage especially for the evening.
During the evening you will learn to create a natural and wild wreath. Using natural moss as a base and working with the fragrant greens of winter, jewel like rose hips, lichen tinged branches, dried grasses and flowers. You will learn to make a wreath entirely of your own design to addorn your door. Please bring a bag to carry your wreath home with you!

Sharing some beauty because the 🌍 doesn’t feel very beautiful.

All the roses finally planted for this year. The planting stalled for about a week as I struggled to remove a large piece of Victorian rubble from the rose bed.

In this bed we have planted Stephen Rulo, Lichfield Angel, Boscobel, Queen of Sweden, Roald Dahl, Charles Darwin, Vanessa Bell and You’re Beautiful.

Embracing the starkness of winter

January is the month of planning for a hopeful abundance in the coming months. I’ve enjoyed the stillness of this January, the field is put to bed. I’ve been pruning roses and planning new growing areas and creating new no dig beds.

There is a starkness and minimalism to January and February which I love, the floral treasures need to be hunted out.Today we walked through Russel Square, we could smell Lonicera fragrantissima fragrance wafting across the square long before we saw it.

Winter solstice is here and I haven’t yet posted a wreath this December.

Thank you to everyone who bought a wreath from me and came to my small kitchen table workshops. I love making wreaths and just didn’t make enough this year, the meditation of collecting winter branches and editing them into a wild and pleasing ⭕️ brings me great contentment.

We feel very lucky to have escaped London and are on the West Coast of Ireland. We are antigen testing daily to keep everyone safe.

I really haven’t been feeling very festive, it would appear what I needed was to go lots of country walks, feeling like it’s December rather than early November.
