It’s going to be quite the bank holiday! 🙌🏽 🥳

Wowsa, what a weekend we have in this Bank Holiday, starting with Cheese Club on Friday, at the Winyl Lounge (still a couple of spaces left), then some free D.Js plus drinkies Saturday/Sunday later on Sunday upstairs there's some covers/jam action from Homecoming, then the crazy fun of the Pram Race is back on Bank Holiday Monday...phew we're exhausted just thinking about it, (and there's probably loads more we don't even know about). So call all your friends and have a great weekend, whatever the weather 😉.

🥳 WHAT. A. DAY!

The sun shone, the drinks flowed, and it turns out there’s nothing quite like watching grown adults charge around the woods in prams with the residents of Mistley in hot pursuit 😆

Our fiercely competitive teams navigated around Old Knobbley, they donned their crowns, downed their pints, and despite the odd lost wheel and occasional wrong turn, each and every one of them crossed the finish line 👏🏾

Kudos to our fantastic racers - we salut you 🤩

Mistley RUFC is a community driven sports club run by volunteers. Since 1983, when the club was formed by Rodney Baxter in the back of a carpet van on the way back from Brentwood Rugby Club, Mistley RUFC has grown to become the great little club it is today, not only turning out a Men's 1st and 2nd XV, but a host of youth teams from Under 7s up to Under 18s.

Mistley RUFC’s motto is ‘passion, spirit, strength’ and we’re sure their pram race teams will be displaying all three of these in abundance today!

Here’s to Mistley Parish Council and Rugby Club for making today happen!

Our race course winds it’s way around the woods, past the institution that is Old Knobbley and back to the Rugby Club, with a few sit ups, a balance beam, a slip n slide and some ‘pub’ stops thrown in for good measure (you’re welcome!) 😅

Chief organisers Charlotte Howell and Ruth spotted this rather fetching blue contraption at The Range in Colchester yesterday (oddly both refused to hop in for a photo…) Nab it while you can 👊🏽

Prizes up for grabs for the race winners as well as the best costumes and best decorated pram (remember it’s royal themed) 🏆

We’re throwing our Pram Race and family fun day as Mistley’s belated celebration for King Charles’ coronation 🇬🇧

We’ll have a children’s Royal themed fancy dress comp and a kid’s drawing comp, so dig out those crowns and coronation sketches 🤴

Get your face painted, don your robe and play King and Queen for the day at our royal selfie station 🤳

Keystone will be performing on the epic EDME lorry you saw at our Jubilee party - it doesn’t get better than that! 🤘🏾

NAT'S Dog Grooming will be judging our dog show so get your pooches ready 🐩

Not to mention pop-up bars from Estuarywinebar and the Blacksmith arms, and coffee from Crumb & Brew

Plus ice cream from Bev’s van, burgers from Alfresco, cakes from Mistley Rugby club and the brilliant Barry’S Fish & Chips Mobile will have a special menu (£7 cod and chips? Can’t say no to that!) 🍟

🤔 What counts as a pram, you ask?

Well, pretty much anything on four wheels, so long as it’s unmotorised!

We’ll have prizes for…

🥇 First, second and third place

👶🏼 The best ‘baby’ and parent fancy dress

🎉 The best decorated pram!

🇬🇧 Our pram race is Mistley Parish Council’s and Mistley Rugby Club’s celebration for King Charles’ coronation (it’s the coronation that keeps on giving…!) so dig out those crowns, union jacks and the red, white and blue

What are the race rules?

👩‍🍼 Teams of two - a ‘parent’ and a ‘baby’

🍻‘Babies’ must stay in the prams apart from at each of the pop up bar stops Estuarywinebar, Mistley Village Hall and the Blacksmiths arms

⛑️ All ‘babies’ must wear a bike helmet as the teams race around Furze Hill woods

👑 Get down to Furze Hill, Bank holiday Monday for our belated coronation celebration

🐩 As well as bringing back the Pram Race, there’ll be a dog show judged by NAT'S Dog Grooming and The Rotary Club of Manningtree Stour Valley chairperson Steve

🎉 We’ve got a jam packed line up with plenty of fun for the whole family on bank holiday Monday 29th

🍔 We’ll have Alfresco burger van and Barry’S Fish & Chips Mobile offering a special menu for the day (£7 cod and chips? Can’t say no to that!)

🥂 Quench your thirst at our pop up bars from Estuarywinebar, the Blacksmith Arms and Mistley Village Hall

🍰 There’ll be freshly baked cakes, sweets and pastries a plenty from Mistley Rugby Club
