This afternoon we were delighted to welcome children from several locals schools to the Corn Exchange Newbury for an interactive show from Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers. We learned all about the different drums, some drumming patterns and even got to see the BIG drum played. There was plenty of time for questions from pupils, plus lots and lots of interaction and cheering. Thank you to all the schools who came along! Grown ups (and children!) can join us this evening from 7.30pm for the full show. Watch to the end for a dinosurprise 🦖👀
AMAZING TEAMWORK: Removing a Steinway Model D piano from the stage at St Nicolas Church #Newbury last night… DURING A 15 MINUTE INTERVAL 😱We had ERSO performing at the Festival last night with pianist Barry Douglas. In the second half of the concert, the orchestra played Dvorak’s New World Symphony, so we had to get the piano off the stage during the interval… so of course we called in the professionals who could do it quickly, safely and without any damage to the piano. This is how it’s done 🙏
Award-winning trio The Trials of Cato pay clear homage to the folk music tradition whilst twisting old bones into something febrile and modern, with stomping tunes and captivating stories.
BBC Radio 2's Mark Radcliffe hailed them as “one of the real discoveries on the folk circuit in recent times.” 📻
Their debut album, Hide and Hair, receives national airplay on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6 Music, and won Best Album at the 2019 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 🏆
See them live at Corn Exchange Newbury on Friday 12 May 🪕
