This is possibly my second to last delivery before I start my maternity leave!
As a result of baby, if you normally receive your deliveries monthly, or are expecting a delivery on the 6th Sept, please note that I will be sending YOUR DELIVERY NEXT FRIDAY (30th August) instead of the first Friday of the month, in order to give myself some time with my brand new Bambino. If you are going to be away, just DM me so I can rearrange.
(This is on the proviso that I haven't had baby early!).

Luckily for me (and unluckily for my mum), this delight was found in mum's garden, wandering around her lovely egg-yolk yellow wallflowers. Sorry mum.

You had Mid-May on the farm a few days ago, so here is the result - Mid-May in the vase.
All grown either on my garden patch or at the farm, all on Ashampstead Common, within 1/4 of one another.
All grown without peat, chemicals, or preservatives.
All grown with enough harvest and enough left for the bees and other insects (including the slugs and snails - ok, fine - the insects and the molluscs 🫡).
I think this will be the end of the sweet rocket until my next bath starts to bloom, and probably the end of the ranunculus as the weather is getting too warm for them.
The Dutch iris have been a massive success for my first time growing them, and the roses are starting to come through too. Along with one of my favourite spring foliages, Goats Rue.
These guys are destined for my kitchen table as I take this year a little slower (life getting in the way of business domination), plus I deserve them 🤷.

Every stem was grown here on Ashampstead Common in peat free compost, with no additional chemicals and sharing the ecosystem with the rest of the wildlife. This is why I do this.
Bouquet includes Dutch iris, ranunculus, agrostemma (toxic to chickens and sheep!), sweet rocket, phacelia, anemone, goats rue, continus, apple mint and hare's tails 💐
Subscriptions today had a serious pink and white bridal vibe - totally by accident I promise! I hope you all enjoy this week's blooms!
I was delighted to find one of my Colibri poppies had self-seeded/survived the winter, particularly as I have only had one seedling survive this winter in the greenhouse too! 🙈 Better one (or two) than none, that's for sure (and thank god it's not the bright orange one! 😂)

I have moved my crates of ranunculus and anemones outside (they were in the greenhouse previously) - they're just coming on so quickly at the moment and with temps of 29-34*C in the GHouse at the moment, I worry they'll finish before the week is out. Hopefully taking them outside will give them a chance to last longer in more comfortable temps (unless the chilly nights kill them from shock of course!).

Pricking out some of my early Jan sowings. I made a stupid error in not checking my seedlings on the window sill over the last week or so as I have been really unwell so understandably distracted! So whilst my scabiosa were so dry they were close to death, the snaps next door were so wet that the soil had gone anaerobic and the roots started to die. Luckily some still had some short roots clinging on to life, so I have pricked them out and will hope for the best. A full 12 hours at the flower field today to try and get on top of the elephant grass/hay, get my final spring seedlings in (well, large plants at this stage!), Add some additional support netting, cut some blooms for drying, oh, and spend 3 hours moving the electric fencing because it all got tangled into a mess as soon as I tried to put it back out 🙈 #berkshireflowerfarmer #cutflowersashampstead #britishgrown #lowmileage #womenwhogrow #mamasgotthis
Finally getting the dahlias in the ground! I potted up my tubers back in early April, so they were just desperate to get their feet in some decent soil. The bed has previously been used for ranunculus and anemones, though at least 75% died in the cold frosts of December, so it has largely been home to stinging nettles and thistles that were lurking under my landscape fabric like some monsters that refuse to be tamed. I don't want to use the landscape fabric for the dahlias, as I think they would like a bit more space, so I am mulching the areas around the dahlias with a thick layer of sheeps wool, Kindy donated by a local sheep farmer. The wool is great and still has dags attached, so extra nutrients for the soil!
