February's posy.

I haven't really managed .y weekly/fortnightly posy like I had hoped, mostly because, as you can see here, the flowers available for me in my patch right now have not changed much since the last !

My daffs are only just starting to break the surface of the soil as they were planted super late last year, so are a way off flowering yet.

So, more gorgeous hellebores, hazel catkins and some viburnum tinus foliage. Still beautiful in February.

Roses are red, violets are blue,
But they're not in season,
So what can you do?

Go local, seasonal, and chemical free,
With a floral subscription for six months or three.

No air-miles, no plastic,
With lots of scent too;
Seasonal blooms in wonderful hues.

For the cost of 12 roses,
Imported, over-treated,
But British fresh flowers,
Your love, not depleted.

Show that special someone,
How much they are worth,
By buying British blooms,
And cherish our Earth.

I have sadly had to cancel my spot market today due to the wind and childcare issues.

This means that my fresh winter wreaths and swags are all dressed up with nowhere to go!

If you would like to have one of these beauties, please let me know! I will happily deliver for free to anywhere within my delivery areas below:
Ashampstead, Upper Basildon, Lower Basildon, Beedon, Beenham, Bradfield, Bucklebury, Burnt Hill, Chapel Row, Chieveley, Compton, Curridge, Cold Ash, Frilsham, Goring, Hampstead Norreys, Hermitage, Marlston, Pangbourne, Purley, Streatley, Whitchurch on Thames & Yattendon.

The wreaths are all made of completely natural ingredients, on a willow base. The only thing non home-compostable is the binding wire that holds them together. Some come with a hand-died velvet ribbon. They cost £55.

Do let me know if you are interested, I can deliver once this weather calms down, on Monday.

Xx

It isn't crazy to buy and install a new door, just to have a nice way to display my Christmas wreaths surely...?! 😂

I kid - the door was to let the cat have a cat flap too. 🐈

I'm ramping up to my final Christmas market of the season this Saturday - it's a short and sweet 2 hours of christmassy joy in Chieveley - starts at 10:30, do come and say hi!

My Winter Wreaths are still available to purchase directly via my website too - just take a look under 'Wreaths' on the website, for local delivery or pickup from Upper Basildon (my home address).

I think this is my favourite one yet, a combination or arbutus, laurel, viburnum, spindle, pyrocantha (firethorn), p***y willow and pheasant feathers (obtained as surplus from the local shoot by a friend).

Enjoy!

The sun is shining and there is so much winter beauty to be found. I have just been foraging spindle berries for my wreaths - they're such a gorgeous pop of colour in an otherwise rather drab winter colour scheme.

As I am cold, I am thinking of the warmer months to come, and the flowers they will bring with them 💐❤️

On that note, my 2025 flower subscriptions are now available for purchase - you can choose to have flowers delivered every Friday, every other Friday, or every first Friday of the month, for 1, 3 or 6 months starting in April.

They make a wonderful treat for yourself, or for a loved one - do you know of anyone that would love a pick me up? Head over to my Instagram page for a competition to be in with a chance of winning a 3 month subscription worth £90

*Delivery to local villages surrounding Ashampstead Common, West Berkshire only. For more information on delivery locations, please see website FAQs. Deliveries will commence on the first Friday of April.

Hampstead Norreys Candlelit Market is now indoors due to the bad winds forecast tomorrow (nobody needs my gazebo landing in their tree!.)

BUT it is still going ahead in the village hall! I will be located upstairs, accompanied by baby Clemmie, so please do come along and keep me company if you are local. I will be selling fresh wreaths, dried flower arrangements and a few extra bits and bobs!

Wreath making has begun in earnest here at GDFC HQ!

If you would like to get your hands on a 99% compostable* wreath, all with British grown foliage, please do let me know as I only have limited availability. As you can see, all of my wreaths are one of a kind, and come with a beautiful hand-died velvet ribbon too.

I will be selling wreaths at the Hampstead Norreys Candlelit Market this weekend, but you can also get your hands on one via the website (link in bio), with delivery to the local villages too.

*The only thing non-compostable at home, is the binding wire (which can be removed). You could even hold on to the British-grown willow wreath base for next year's wreaths too!

Just two weeks since my last wedding of the year ❤️

I don't usually take on weddings this late in the season (the will-they, wont-they of the flowers being good enough as the weather worsens and the nights draw in makes it super stressful!), but for a local couple, how could I say no? Especially as their brief was 'seasonal hedgerow' - finding the variety of colours and textures available at this time of year was wonderful.

Congratulations to Natalie & Alex, I hope you have had a wonderful two weeks of married life thus far!

If you are planning a wedding for 2025, do let me know as I still have a few spaces available. I can provide full floristry services, DIY flowers buckets, or as N & A had, a mixture of both!

Love love 💕

The days are getting shorter and the blooms are coming less thick and fast, but they're hanging on!

Plans for next year's fresh flowers are already well underway with a greenhouse full to bursting with hardy seedlings and a vast quantity of spring bulbs to get in the ground as soon as possible next month.

If you would like to receive some of these fresh blooms next year, why not consider one of our flower subscriptions? They provide fresh, chemical-free and locally grown flowers for you to enjoy at home, without lifting a finger! And come with more character, variety, scent and wiggliness than you can find in the supermarket too! They also make excellent gifts for those people who you really can't think what to buy for.

Exciting change is afoot, so join the journey!

A symptom of this mild and wet year we have been having - vivipary in my poppies (also in my wrinkled cress)!
This is when the seeds germinate while still attached to the plant. These two poppy heads had escaped my secateurs as they became hidden under a rampaging thistle, hence the seeds remaining unharvested.
Discovered whilst clearing the beds this afternoon.
