A cold but beautiful autumn morning foraging some foliage treats for Pauline’s farewell flowers. Luckily I picked the flowers yesterday and beat this mornings frost! We got some beautiful oak and stumbled upon a host of raspberry canes in the hedgerow!!! And there’s nothing quite like the gorgeous green and twisting shape they bring to arrangements. I’m hoping to find the same spot and take them to do a big arrangement for my Godson’s christening next week.

Happy autumn everyone, for every ending there’s a new beginning and if if anyone is having a Sherry tomorrow, give Pauline a little toast. She loved a Sherry x

My little autumn field helper is back on his Monday shift! We’ve picked some flowers for the Women in Farming Autumn Gathering tomorrow, which will be part of our British Flower raffle in aid of the Yorkshire Rural Support Network. We also foraged the last of the blackberries at the field and gave the fading sweet pea tunnel a good rampage!!

It’s great being Auntie Fi on a sunny autumn morning with Maximus. In fact it’s great every Monday morning 💚

Lovely leftovers 🩷💚🤍

Ok that’s not strictly true..some of them where leftovers from last weekends picking and the rest of them I treated myself too from my field. They’ve made me so happy this week (and this week has been a bit up and down!) and reminded me that flowers really do make me happy! I love the wild and free when it comes to flowers…. they’re like Labradors… they should nearly always be off the lead! 😉 I particularly love the bronze fennel dancing about in this arrangement with its cosmos, dahlia and herby friends (mint and rosemary).

I’ve also really loved all the field visitors and pickers over the last week and it always amazes me how differently they choose and arrange flowers. I get so much joy from people at the field and seeing the works of art they create, maybe something to think more about for next year…

In the meantime it’s time to buckle down. Big week of weddings next week, lots of gift bouquets and a field tour to do. Better sharpen those snips, it’s going to be a biggie!

Foraging flowers while you’re out walking this Easter is a great way to put something lovely in your home at springtime. Just remember to be a good egg forager..

Only collect flowers, blossom and branches where they are growing in abundance. Many birds rely on these plants for food and it’s important that plants and species are able to reproduce – taking their seeds will disrupt their natural cycle and make it impossible for them to spawn the next generation. Enjoy but be a responsible forager x

🌸 FLOWER FOCUS 🌸
Ranunculus seem to be top of everyone’s list, especially my dear photographer !
The start out life as funny little spidery like corms (see picture) and turn into wonderful round layers of silky petals. You can get them in so many colours 💕❤️🤍💛🧡

You’ll see them in the spring from growers in the UK who plant them in the autumn before. Although most people describe them as a little rose type of flower they are actually a member of the buttercup family.

Are you ready to join me on my floristry adventure?!? Watch this space….delights incoming!!!! Here’s a little bit more about Kvity and how we started !

💐 Did you know that Kvity is the pronunciation of flowers in Ukrainian?! It’s actually written like квіти in the Ukrainian language but I’d like you to all be able to understand the business name so the British way to say it is K-vity!

💐 My inspiration/support/models/ photographers/helpers and motivator’s are Mariia, Natalia and Marichka from Ukraine, who came to live with me in May. They have been 1000% amazing and inspired me to realise my floristry dream.
