Hire of our facilities
From the 1st of January 2024, we will be offering our clubhouse and facilities for hire for special events or functions such as birthdays, wedding receptions, christenings, meetings, fitness activities such as yoga/pilates, corporate events and many more.

We have a large room with tables and chairs and a smaller bar room with comfortable seating. We have a kitchen with crockery and cutlery you can use, and a well-stocked licensed pay bar that will be staffed for you. Our first floor clubhouse is close to the river Severn and the Quarry, and has spectacular views over our beautiful crown green bowling greens and gardens, and up towards the stunning town walls and cathedral of Shrewsbury. We are conveniently located in the centre of Shrewsbury, right next to the public car park of St. Julian Friars.

If you have any questions, would like to see our clubhouse to see if it is suitable for your event or to check if your particular date is free, please email [email protected]. If you decide to book, you will be sent our terms and conditions and booking form for you to complete.

We love creating Vintage Afternoon Teas. We offer a bespoke and professional service, catering for the special moments in your life. We bake and create freshly homemade food. We serve Afternoon Tea at the venue of your choice on pretty Vintage China. We can provide Hostess Service to serve your guests.

At the end of your event, we will clear the tables and take away all the china to be washed by ourselves.

We can provide set menus or create a bespoke menu for you.

Crew street birthday party

Absolutely cracking night for a 50th Birthday Party. Food was amazing and Terry and Scott professional. They also did a vegan lasagna for a few guests as well. More than enough food, with some having seconds. The crackling was top class. Would recommend them to everyone, whatever the occasion.

All bookings will be reviewed 8 weeks before your event date as we are seeing a lot of changes in wholesale costs at the moment, we will do our upmost to keep to our original quote but with a rise around 25% over the past few months alone we unfortunately can not always keep to the price quoted
Thank you to all that have chosen A Crackling Time and been so understanding
Upon booking we require a 20% deposit to save the date for all bookings and were cancelled within 30 days of self catered and 90 days of catered events the deposit is non refundable, the remaining balance is due no less than 14 days before your event.
Once booked a maximum of 10% reduction in numbers is allowed providing the minimum order amount is still met.
Any final payments not paid on or before the due date will unfortunately result in the cancellation of your event due to our supply chain and not being able to order in and get our stock.

We supply absolutely everything required including the meat, sourced locally through sutton farm butchers ; you simply supply the guests!
Hog roasts are ever popular, and increasingly a fashionable way of catering for many guests in a relaxed atmosphere. If you’re hiring a venue we can work directly with the owners to ensure that everything runs like clockwork.
We are fully insured and our staff are fully qualified in food hygiene, our meat is supplied direct from the butchers at Sutton farm ; top quality and endorsed to the highest standards; mouth wateringly tasty!! Although pork is the speciality of A crackling time .we can of course supply other BBQ meats to cater for all tastes; just let us know what you require.

Absolutely amazing food and service!! Would highly recommend!
So I ordered the hog roast for my 50th birthday celebrations, the organisation and communication prior to the event was fantastic. Massive attention to detail and what I wanted.
On the night everything was set up and ready to go at exactly the right time. Everybody commented on how nice all the food was, I’m so glad I booked A Crackling Time and will definitely book again for any other big events. Massive thanks Scott and co 😊

I don't even know where to start Terry, Scott and the team provided and served a beautiful afternoon tea for our wedding reception and hog roast for the evening. Wow, wow, wow the food was incredible 10/10, service was amazing, price fantastic. There was more than enough for our 70+ day and 120 evening guests the team even washed up our own tea sets we provided and cleared everything away at the end of the night.
They were just incredible and made our day amazing and I know all our guests agree
