All ready for our summer open weekend at Palais des Vaches tomorrow and Sunday. The hub gallery in Lymington will be closed tomorrow so head up the road to Lower Exbury Farm to enjoy a wonderful array of artwork by our artists. Our venue boasts three inter-joining barns which wrap around a beautiful courtyard garden. Our dazzling sculpture garden and butterfly meadow also provide perfect photo opportunities.

An exhibition celebrating the huge significance of Exbury in the Second World War will be mounted at The Palais on Saturday and Sunday; and then on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June.
Much of the planning for the landings in Normandy, known as Operation Overlord, took place at nearby Exbury House, which was requisitioned by the Royal Navy in 1942. The stately home became known as HMS Mastodon and during the war years, it was staffed by more than 100 Wrens (Women's Royal Naval Service personnel). These Wrens were instrumental in the planning and training for the Normandy Landings, with landing crafts built nearby at Buckler’s Hard.

THE contributions made by women during the Second World War are celebrated by this stunning sculpture on the banks of Beaulieu River at Exbury.

Ave Atque Vale, which means Hail and Farewell in Latin was officially unveiled on Tuesday in the grounds of Palais des Vaches Art Gallery to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of D-Day.

The riverside installation was commissioned by the celebrated British photographer Alistair Morrison, as part of a nationwide Time to Connect project which links artists with beautiful venues across the UK. Thank you to Paul Close for capturing these wonderful images

A wonderful day at the Palais as we were joined by Second World War Veterans,serving military & cadets for the unveiling of Ave Atque Vale, translated from Latin to Hail and Farewell, a sculpture commissioned by to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of D-Day.

The riverside installation is part of a nationwide Time to Connect project which links artists with beautiful venues across the UK. See Hail and Farewell on the banks of Beaulieu River at Palais des Vaches.
An exhibition celebrating the contributions of Wrens and Exbury’s Second World War story will also be mounted on 15th, 16th, 22nd & 23rd June from 11am to 4pm. Admission to the gallery is free.

The magnificent Sky Dance by talented local sculptor Gary Boulton. Sky dance is a kinetic sculpture that depicts a flower head moving in the breeze. Made from stainless steel it glints in the sunshine as it rotates. Mounted on an ascending curved stem the flower heads gently counter rotate creating a mesmerising affect. The piece measures approximately 2.2 metres high. Retail price- £6800.00

It’s been a fabulous open weekend here at the Palais, thanks to all who’ve made it down so far, we’ll be open until 4pm. Our next open weekend is Sat 1st & Sun 2nd October, 11am-4pm.

Hampshire Open Studios occurs all over the county and is where Palais des Vaches' humble beginnings were formed. Before the refurbishment we opened the old cow barn up to show the artwork of our founders and their talented friends. After the lockdown refurbishment we opened as the new Palais des Vaches with a new look and last year's HOS was our first exhibition in the new space. This year we will be welcoming many of you back and we hope to also see some new faces. The sea keeps the air cool making a visit to the Palais a treat for all who venture down our gravel track!
