Young Halsway!

At Halsway Manor, National Centre for Folk Arts, we work with a large number of young people to provide engaging and inspirational participatory experiences to ignite and support a passion for folk arts. From grassroots folk dance workshops in schools to professional development for aspiring musicians we offer something for all ages and have access to many experienced and committed artists and tutors.

Halsway Young Folk is a programme of four residential courses for young musicians to explore traditional folk songs and tunes, experiment, find their own sound and create their own music. Now celebrating ten years, it is a successful and important part of our work, and has helped launch the professional career of a number of young artists as well as inspiring many more to go onto study music at a college or university level.

We offer four residential opportunities across the year:

Junior: For ages 8-12. Everyone welcome, join us for fun with folk. This is a great introduction to playing and learning about folk music working with supportive and experienced artists. Lead Artist: Claire Bailey
