From a cozy cocoon in his mama's belly to a wide-eyed newborn wonder, and now, a conquering explorer mastering the art of sitting up - this little man has graced my studio with his infectious joy yet again! ✨ Witnessing his journey, giggle by giggle and milestone by milestone, has been an absolute honor.

This sitting-up session was a blast! He's mastered the art of balancing, sporting the most adorable head tilt and a smile that could melt glaciers. Every click of the shutter was filled with pure wonder - his eyes sparkling with curiosity as he explored the world around him. ✨

But what's the secret to all these newborn grins, you ask? Well, here's a little nugget of knowledge for you: those adorable gummy smiles aren't always about happiness Sometimes, they're simply reflexes!

Yep, that’s right. Sometimes, when a newborn's tummy is full, they make these little smiles as they're gassy (TMI? Maybe, but hey, it's all part of the newborn charm!). Or, they might smile when they smell something familiar, like mama's milk. It's their little way of communicating, even before they have words.

But whether it's a reflex or the real deal, there's no denying the magic of a newborn smile. It's like seeing the world through brand new, sun-kissed eyes (like Callie's, of course!). It's a reminder that joy can be found in the simplest things, even a full diaper (okay, maybe not THAT, but you get the point!).

Do you genuinely enjoy every aspect of your job? It may surprise you, but I certainly do not. Yes I find immense joy in my work as a newborn photographer, capturing those invaluable moments for adoring parents and yet some aspects of running a business can feel like a chore.

I wholeheartedly agree with Elizabeth Gilbert and what she wrote in her book Big Magic: “The question is not what are you passionate about, but what are you passionate enough about to endure the most disagreeable aspects of the work?”

Life, or the professional journey we embark upon, will never be an unending sequence of magical moments; it demands diligence and tackling tasks we may not always relish. Passion extends beyond mere affection for the craft; it involves the tenacity to navigate through less glamorous territories. This resilience becomes evident when your passion is so profound that it empowers you to confront the uphill battles that inevitably accompany it.

There's something truly special about photographing siblings, especially when I get to capture them as adorable babies and then witness their transformation into lively toddlers when they return with a new baby brother or sister. 📸💕

Sure, they may bicker, get a tad jealous, or even engage in some hair-pulling antics, but my recent trip back to South Africa reinforced what I've always known—the sibling bond is unbreakable. Spending quality time with my own sisters reminded me that friends may come and go, but siblings are the constants in our lives.
