🤍 Why are weddings so delightful? ✨

I’ve just travelled back up to Lincolnshire for a family wedding on Saturday and I’m feeling all excited.

Weddings come with so much romance, warmth and energy!

Weddings mean meeting all of your family and friends who support you and your other half, who are excited for you and have watched you grow together during your love story so far.

I love swapping stories and experiences with other guests whilst relaxing in beautiful rooms with delicious food, how can anyone not love a wedding?

Your wedding flowers create the perfect backdrop for the day. Your wedding flowers add colours and scents to your guests memories and your wedding photos, that you will talk about and reminisce about with them for years to come!

As I look forward to my last wedding of 2024 as a guest, I wanted to share some of my favourite guest shots from my own wedding, taken by the wonderful

Which suppliers did I use for my own wedding? ✨

I wanted to do a series on the wedding suppliers I used for my own wedding and want everyone else to use because they made the day magical!

First up, Halfpenny London.

I fell in love with Halfpenny when I saw wearing a stunning dress whilst presenting dancing on ice. I was head over heels for my dress when I saw wearing a peach version. This was at least 3 years before I got engaged 😅

I’d say I booked my Halfpenny appointment within days of getting engaged, to try on their gorgeous set of dresses. Whilst waiting for my dress appointment (scheduling my mum living in Lincolnshire and my MOH having the most insane social calendar meant I waited four months for my appointment!) I got the Halfpenny sample sale email and booked a slot.

There’s a cute little coffee shop across the street which I met one my bridesmaids for a coffee an hour before my appointment and could see people coming and going into the boutique.

When it was my turn, I walked in and the dress I’d been dreaming of was there in the sample sale!

The girls in the shop were so friendly, I tried it on and it was everything I wanted in a dress. The boutique is so pretty and everything you’d expect from a brand like Halfpenny, so I got to take that all in whilst they packed it up for me to takeaway on the day!

I did go back for my original appointment slot and got to try my dress on with my mum which was super special. Again, everyone I met was wonderful and I’d definitely recommend going to try their dresses (and sign up for the sample sale notifications!).

I would love to create wedding flowers for a bride who has chosen a Halfpenny dress. If that’s you, drop me a dm and to start planning your dream wedding flowers.

Let me know in the comments any other dress designers you want brides to know about.

All the flower love,

Where do I stand on reusing florals throughout your day?

I am absolutely for it! It’s a great way to maximise your budget and make your guests feel like the florals never end.

Such as using flower meadows for the aisle and then moving to your reception. An arch as a ceremony backdrop and then being used to frame your family and friend’s speeches, as well as a photo op! I’m always a big fan of opting to make up gift bouquets for guests the following day from the flowers used on your wedding day.

There are a few times I would advise against it but only to make sure your wedding day is as perfect as possible. Read on to find out more.

1. I would not advise reusing anyone’s bouquet as a centrepiece. Bouquets are the flowers that get touched the most, put down and picked up, and out of water for the longest time. All of these things means that by the time you get to your reception, the likelihood of your bouquets looking as pristine as you would want your table centrepieces to look is very low.

But I will always provide vases for you to pop your bouquets in whilst you’re waiting for photos or during your reception!

2. If you are getting married in the depths of summer and you have items that are outside for an extended period of time, I wouldn’t advise wholly reusing as flowers can get scorched in the sun, which does not look good. I’d likely suggest we would need to do some tweaking once we move to replace any flowers that didn’t make it.

3. I won’t advise reusing a floral piece in the next section of your reception. For example, most weddings consist of your ceremony, drinks reception, wedding breakfast, evening reception. I would not advise using the same item in the ceremony and drinks reception as it means my team will be in the same space as your guests, which isn’t the best for their experience. But if we can move something without them noticing then we move whatever is necessary, which will all be figured out during a site visit.

DM me ‘florals’ if you want to chat about your wedding or event florals.

✨ Swipe to see the before and after 💫

There aren’t many places as synonymous with a city wedding than Chelsea Town Hall. Working on this brief to bring romance, drama and impact to this impressive room was why I wanted to become a florist.

Blue and white can be just as romantic and warm as creams and blush pinks, with the right florist by your side.

We created height with the elevated florals, the floral meadows at the end of the tables balanced the colours throughout the room and the cake flowers pulled all the elements together to build a back drop for last memories for your guests.

If you want to chat about wedding florals, DM me the word ‘florals’.

💫 Reviews like this just make this job even better 🤍

From Lisa and Dave… longer version below ⬇️

‘Amy was amazing to work with as our wedding florist.

We felt we could be honest and open with her about how things were going with the wedding planning, doing it alongside having recently had a baby. We always felt that Amy was on top of everything flower-related and took the pressure off us thinking about all the other aspects of the event. She listened to the ideas we had and also offered her own ideas and expertise.

The colours, the types of flowers, the buttonholes and corsages were all beautiful and complemented our colour scheme, attire and general relaxed feel of our wedding very well. She made the most beautiful deconstructed arch for us to get married in front of and did a wonderful job on the other arrangements as well, including posies for the aisle, table centrepieces, pot plants, and foliage to frame signs we had created for our event.

Amy re-used the flowers displays she created for us between the various spaces which was environmentally green. She used ingenuity to really help us make the most of the flowers on our day. The flower arch that was the backdrop for our ceremony she moved to behind our table at the meal. Ourselves and our guests were able to continue to enjoy the beautiful arrangement and it nicely created emphasis on us at the meal.

We are so grateful to have asked Amy to create our flower arrangements for us. She surpassed our expectations and surprised us with the most beautiful displays. We highly recommend Amy as your wedding florist from her professionalism, super organisation, positive attitude, open and collaborative approach and patience.’

🤍 LISA & DAVE 💫

Lisa and Dave’s wedding photos have just landed in my inbox and I cannot wait to share some more of this gorgeous day from May.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week - I have a Cotswolds wedding on Thursday and then get to be a wedding guest this Saturday up in Manchester, both of which I am far too excited for.

💫 How gorgeous are these two 🤍

Snuggled up in the heights of Chelsea Town Hall, we used some of the table florals to frame the portraits taken in the main hall.

White and blue is such a classic colour combination - I cannot wait to use this colour scheme again later this year 🤍🦋

I have a busy week coming up with a baby shower, a wonderful wedding in the Cotswolds and getting to attend a wedding in Clitheroe.

Get in touch via my website to get a consultation booked in for the next couple of weeks!

🤍 Wedding tips for your wedding day 💫

Not tips for the weeks before hand, not tips for the evening before, but tips for the actual day.

1. Think of yourselves as the guests of honour, not as the hosts.

A good friend gave us this advice and I can’t share it enough. You’ve done all the planning, family and friends are on hand to help, enjoy your day and there will be someone to help with anything that comes up.

2. Have one of your bridesmaids make sure you drink enough water throughout the whole day - you’ll be happy of this once everyone wants to get the bride and groom a tipple!

3. Don’t worry about going to talk to every guest, your guests will gravitate towards you!

4. Do not, I repeat, do not be the last person in the hair and makeup seat. Delays happen and you don’t want to be rushed.

5. Similar to the first but relax and have fun - you’ll have some great memories and photographs if you’re enjoying the moment!

Hope this helps - drop any tips you might have below.

💫 My top three tips for brides running up to your wedding day ✨

As a 2024 bride, I know what it’s like to plan and experience a wedding day.

1. Your loved ones want to help - give them jobs that will save you time in the days before the wedding - sharing jobs means you can get to sit down dinner in the evenings with everyone over a glass of wine.

2. Write everything down - having all your thoughts and lists of jobs in your head is going to leave you stressed. Writing it all down will mean you have more headspace to be able to enjoy the weeks before.

3. If you’re planning on doing a speech draft it ahead of time so you have time to refine it over a few weeks - you’ll feel more at ease having time to redraft it - I definitely didn’t get mine right the first time. Similarly with thank you cards to family and your bridal party - take the time to write them rather than rushing them the day before.

Comment below with any other tips you might have!

🌸 What do we mean when we talk about seasonality? 🌸

We’re talking about harnessing the flowers that naturally bloom during the season you’ve chosen your wedding.

Why do us florists talk about it so much?

1. Using flowers that are in the height of their season means they will be the most beautiful they could possibly be. And when I say beautiful, I mean the most vibrant, have the best smell and will last the longest they can.

Using flowers outside of this timeframe is possible but you won’t get them locally and they will cost you a little more, which brings me to my next point..

2. Using seasonal flowers will mean we can maximise your budget for the most number of flowers and give you the biggest impact. Sure we can use peonies in September, but they won’t look as amazing as dahlias do at that time of year and they can be 3-5 times the price (if not more).

3. They’re more environmentally friendly. Flowers in season will likely have a lower carbon footprint and won’t need growers to recreate an unnatural environment to grow the flowers, which means less energy is used.

🤍 Florals + candles = all the romance 🤍

I’d always encourage you to add candles of some description, whether that be candlesticks or tea lights. They bring so much warmth and romance to your day.

I’ll always ask you if you’d like to add candles to your package and can help with quantity and colours.

These delightful tables were put together with some lovely suppliers over at Chelsea Town Hall.

Let’s talk about tables. Adding elements with different heights, textures and colours bring so much impact to your wedding tables. Just like this combination of flower bowls, bud vases, taper candles and tea lights.

This wedding took place at the wonderful and got to use all the spring blooms such as ranunculus, anemones and tulips.
