With only months left until the GFA reposses our skatepark, and our vert skating days coming to an end. Unfortunately we have no current plans in place to replace said park.

With this in mind, our skate commmunity in Gibraltar are going to be without a home and nowhere to practice their beloved sport. This could mean skateboarding will be taken to the streets, or even worse; it could spell the demise of skating in Gibraltar.

Over the last few months skateboarding has gained popularity in Gibraltar, I have noticed an increased turnout of skaters at local park, this consisting mainly of newbies to the sport. Additionally the skateboarding quality is better than ever, not only are more people picking up the sport but they are progressing FAST!

Personally I find its a great sight to see young people picking up a new sport they thoroughly enjoy. We are a fast growing community in Gibraltar and soon to be left without at 'community center'.

Where will we go next?

Skateboarding, a niche sport that’s taking the world by storm. Its origins date back to the early 1920’s when children modified their 4 wheeled scooters by removing the handlebars completely. It was popularised in the 1960’s and 1970’s by surfers who got bored when the sea was flat. In the 1980’s the sport exploded thanks to the likes of Rodney Mullen and Tony Hawk. Since then, its popularity has steadily increased and is an internationally recognised sport, it’s even in the Olympics! In the current day Skateboarding is more popular than American Football in some schools in California, they are even tearing up basketball courts and play parks to build them.
Our mission here in Gibraltar is to promote Skateboarding and liase with the Goverment of Gibraltar to facilitate the contrusction of a prefessional Skatepark. We wish to enable the local community to learn and practice a new sport in a safe and frienldy enviroment.
Our plan is to gain the support of the local community by hosting events, promoting Skateboarding on social media and to gain Goverment recognition. We would then liase with Skatepark designers and the local community to mutually agree on our ideal park. We are dedicated to promoting sources of funds for the consrtuction via sponsers and crowd funding. Finally, we wish to open a professional skatepark here in Gibraltar to provide the community for generations to come.

Thanks to all our new-comers on this page!
We are a group of passionate skateboarders who would love to further the sport in our home of Gibraltar. Our main goal is to provide a professionally built skatepark to our community and to allow a safe and enjoyable experience to our youth.
We would love the support of the parents, ministers and Governing bodies of Gibraltar to help us provide the facilities needed to practice our sport.
