YELLOW ARCHANGEL / YELLOW DEAD NETTLE
From the mint family and can be used the same as a stinging nettle but luckily without any sting!
Yellow archangel is a ground cover plant that you’ll find in woody areas. The leaves grow in opposite pairs up the stem, and the stem is square in cross section as with all members of the mint family. When it flowers in Spring they come out bright yellow and shoot up, standing upright.
The yellow dead nettles are used to relieve bladder paralysis and nephritis, as well as kidney problems. Herbalists prescribe it to relieve gout, sciatica, and other pains of the joints.
High in minerals and very easy to include in salads, blended into hummous or soup, fried with butter or used in place of spinach.
