Before you set the event date, you might want to make sure that it’s not in the middle of the holiday season in the hosting country. In Japan, there are several holiday seasons, and it is said that the Golden Week is one of the biggest holiday seasons in Japan. Golden Week starts from the end of April until the beginning of May. Depending on the year, the number of holidays changes, but usually it is about a weeklong. Most of the business stops during this season, so you might want to avoid this season for the PR and planning for the event. With the number of COVID cases stabilized and decreasing in Japan, the Japanese government lifted its quasi-emergency measures nationwide with the intention that events, travel and activities will resume. In fact, the trend for events that have moved online over the past few years will again be held onsite or hybridized at venues.
In Japan, where the quality of hospitality in the service industry is high, many venues and hotels are taking all possible infection control measures.

Online events have become the norm in the event industry since the pandemic. One benefit to online events is being able to connect with multiple speakers from all parts of the world.

Over the last few years, we've helped our clients host events with speakers from all corners of the globe including Asia, Africa, Europe, and North and South America. As you can imagine, this can become complicated with multiple time zones, differences in cultures and even internet connection qualities.

To ensure a high quality event we perform test connections with speakers ahead of the event. This means that we arrange a time to connect on the same platform as the event will be held and confirm the internet connection is strong and the camera and microphone are working properly. We want to instill confidence in the speaker that they are ready to participate in the event and can navigate the platform and online tools and share any slides with success.

Taking these extra steps in the planning process really contribute to creating a high quality online event.

Peak1 is supporting many start-up events throughout the year. By organizing these events, not only we understand what kind of social issues we are facing today, but also we have an opportunity to study cutting-edge technologies.
TechCrunch Tokyo, which is one of the biggest start-up events in Japan and Peak1 has supported it for years. It was great to see those who attended the event become successful in their business and help solve social issues. However, we are truly sorry to hear that TechCrunch Japan will close its business this month. We had so much memory with TechCrunch Tokyo and it is sad that we won’t have a chance to see them again. We wish all the best for their next stage of business. Thank you TechCrunch Tokyo!

After being 100% online last year, Hack Osaka 2022 was held in a hybrid way (live and online) this February!
So that the online participants were able to experience the event in a more realistic way, the online distribution was a live stream of the event stage at the venue.
In addition to online, there were guests live at Knowledge Theater in Osaka (invitation only and not including staffs). We took thorough measures to protect against COVID-19 so that attendees could enjoy the event safely. In addition to masks and temperature checks, red and white balloons (HackOsaka branding) were used to easily display blocked seats for social distancing.
We are very honored to be involved in this international innovation conference for start-up companies from Japan and overseas for the last two years!

Last Tuesday, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance hosted an online event, "Summit for Regional Development". In recent years, Local Development has become an important topic in Japan and the government, companies and the private sectors are making various attempts to improve it. In order to promote rural areas that are declining due to population decrease and concentration in cities, this event was held as a place to communicate and discuss the topic of local development from various approaches including SDGs, Decarbonization and Digital Transformation. Over 1,000 people attended the event, with more questions asked than could be answered in the time available. Peak 1 was in charge of the delivery and direction of the event.

At one of our client webinars this week we provided interpretation in 3 languages via Zoom. English/ Japanese interpretation is quite common in Japan, but other language support such as French, German, etc can be harder to source.

To achieve the desired outcome, we interpreted from the original language to Japanese, and finally to English. The setup was a bit unique but it went very smoothly!

”Improve QMS (Quality Management System) in Medical Institutions”, organized by NCCE (National Cancer Canter Hospital East), the 3rd QMS online seminar was successfully held last Saturday.
It was a pleasure for Peak 1 to support this event again! This seminar's aim is to provide a platform for people from different medical positions to discuss how to improve QMS in their everyday work. There was over 200 participants and 38 breakout rooms for them to discuss with each other, which is double the event participation from May.
Technically speaking, a Large Scale Zoom Meeting License and an effective operation team is required. Another new challenge we had was an After Talking Time in Zoom. Everyone was welcome to stay in the Zoom meeting for 30 minutes past the official end time to talk freely with the speakers. Although it was after a 4 hours webinar, we still had nearly 40 participants talking with each other.
We are looking forward to the 4th QMS seminar and are ready for any new challenges!
