We LOVE using organically grown edible flowers to give our food that extra pop of colour and a point of difference but did you know that they also hold high nutritional value? Pansies (a favourite of ours) are a great source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. They are particularly rich in vitamin A, C, and E, which are essential for boosting collagen and maintaining healthy skin, hair, and nails. Pansies are also rich in flavonoids, which are potent antioxidants that protect against cellular damage and inflammation 🌸

This week we celebrated ONE year at SHED 417 Catering 🥳

And what a week it was! We were privileged to cater for Team DHL’s staff appreciation week, several funeral’s, a wedding and to end our week, a fabulous 80th birthday for a very special lady 🙌🏻

Over the past year our growth has exceeded our expectations, we are truly so grateful to each and every one of our clients and also to our amazing friends and family who have supported and encouraged us on our journey. We are so excited to see where the next year takes us!

Pink Shirt Day originated from an inspiring act of kindness in 2007, when a group of students in Nova Scotia rallied behind a fellow student who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. Since then, it has grown into a global movement symbolizing our collective stand against bullying in all its forms. The aim of CKNW Kids' Fund's Pink Shirt Day is to raise awareness of bullying in schools, workplaces, homes and online. The organisation also looks to raise funds to support programmes and facilities to foster children's health self-esteem 💕

It is always a huge privilege to be asked to funeral cater for the team at Grahams Funeral Services.

Yesterday was a very inspiring lady who loved travel, animals and had passion for fishing…she even held an NZ record for the largest mako shark and marlin caught by a woman 🙌🏻🎣 to this afternoon where we honoured a much loved free spirited man who loved the beach and his campervan.

It brings us so much joy to see the expression on the faces of the family of the deceased when they enter the service lounge after farewelling their loved one. The smiles that we see say it all, we have heard so many times that our creations that brings friends and family together after a celebration of life where they can continue to not only grieve over their loss but bond with one an other and share stories while they fill their tummies is “such a highlight at the end of a really sh*tty day” 🌟

It’s been a busy two days in the SHED 417 kitchen. Wednesday started with a baby shower for team DHL followed by a celebration of life for a well respected & loved member of the community who was a vegetable grower & retired CFO/ life member of the Pukekohe Volunteer Fire Brigade since 1962. Then out to howick for canapés for a friend & back to the airport last night for more canapés 😮‍💨

Over the past week alone between our corporate and private clients aswell as our funerals, we have catered for over one thousand people. To say that we are overwhelmed with the bookings and return custom that we have received over this past six months would be an understatement 🫶

A huge THANK YOU to our wonderful family and long time friends ( and the new ones that we have made along the way ) for your encouragement and support to us on our new venture. The incredible feedback that we have received from our clients makes the late nights and the early mornings worth every minute.

Despite the festivities and whether it’s your first Christmas since they passed, or you lost someone many years ago, Christmas can be a particularly hard time of the year.

It was an honour to be asked to create a beautiful table of food this evening with a Christmas theme for Grahams Funeral Services Christmas Memorial Service. Friends and family came together to pay tribute and remember their loved ones with a candle lighting ritual that signifies that the memory burns bright and lives on. This also promotes reflection and remembrance.

The presence of good food at such events allows guests to take a break, nourish themselves and find solace in the company of others.
