From 11.59pm tonight, 13 April all of New Zealand will move to Orange ๐ŸŸ

Over the past few weeks weโ€™ve seen a sustained reduction in cases and hospitalisations despite the relaxation of settings. Under the COVID-19 Protection Framework, this means we can now move to the Orange setting.

At Orange ๐ŸŸ
โžก๏ธ There are no indoor or outdoor capacity limits at events.
โžก๏ธ Face masks are still required for many indoor settings. Inside schools, face masks are not required but still encouraged.
โžก๏ธ There are no changes to the 7-day self-isolation requirement, if you, or someone you live with gets COVID-19.
โžก๏ธ Bars and restaurants are no longer required to enforce seated and separated rules, although they can choose to keep them.

Wearing a face mask at Orange is still important, especially with capacity limits removed. Next to being vaccinated and having a booster, face masks are the best defence against COVID-19 and reduce new cases by as much as 53%.

Traffic light settings will be reviewed in mid-May.

Changes to the Traffic Light Framework ๐Ÿšฅ๐Ÿ”ด๐ŸŸ ๐ŸŸข

As we move past the peak of Omicron, we can look toward to a more simplified traffic light system to keep us safe.

๐ŸŸข At Green, there will be no restrictions, but youโ€™re encouraged to look after each other by keeping up good health behaviours such as mask wearing on public transport and regular hand washing.

๐ŸŸ  At Orange, masks will be required in all the indoor places they are now. There will be no capacity limits at gatherings.

๐Ÿ”ด At Red - in addition to masks, there will be an indoor limit of 200 people but no limits on outdoor gatherings or events.

These changes to Red will be in place from midnight Friday. From then, scanning QR codes will no longer be necessary. From 11.59pm 4 April, Vaccine Passes wonโ€™t be required.

Thatโ€™s all there is to remember.

If you do test positive or someone in your household does, everyone must isolate for seven days. Find out more here: https://covid19.govt.nz/traffic-lights-changes

As you recover from COVID-19, you may find that you are easily fatigued or breathless. Take it easy as you return to your normal activities, and make sure you pace yourself, giving your body a rest if you need to.

If you or your child still have symptoms after your isolation period has ended, you should continue to stay home and recover, until 24 hours after your symptoms resolve. After you have recovered from COVID-19, you do not need to isolate again for 3 months, if someone else in your household tests positive during that time.

You do not need to provide evidence of a negative RAT or PCR to return to school or work. You should not have further COVID-19 tests for 28 days from when your symptoms started or when you tested positive, whichever came first.

Many children have a long-lasting runny nose or cough after viral infections. If it has been more than 10 days since the start of their COVID-19 symptoms and they are no longer unwell, they are not likely to be infectious and can return to school.

Many people who get COVID-19 do recover completely. However, some people report a range of symptoms beyond the standard time of recovery. For support with management and treatment of symptoms, seek help from your GP or health provider.

After you have recovered from COVID-19, you will not need to isolate again for 3 months if someone else in your household tests positive during that time. While the chance of reinfection is low, you can still get COVID-19 again at any time during this 3 months.

Itโ€™s important to upload your RAT result to My Covid Record โ€“ even if you test negative.

Recording your result helps us understand transmission within households and how COVID-19 is spreading throughout communities. It helps determine how public health resources are used, and is important if your condition worsens and you require additional healthcare.

Itโ€™s quick and easy to report your result online. Report your RAT result to MyCovidRecord.nz, or call 0800 222 478 and press option 3.
