Wairarapa Bush Rugby Union
50th Anniversary 1971 to 2021

Today we begin our journey of looking back at the history of Wairarapa-Bush RFU at http://waibush.co.nz with a look at the players who have represented over the pass 49 years.

(Player cap numbers are awarded as too when they started a match or came on as a replacement as listed in First Class Matches published in NZRU Rugby Almanacks 1971-2020)

We begin our “Looking Back” series by allocating player CAP Numbers from the first Wairarapa-Bush Team selected in 1971 as a combined Rugby Union following the amalgamation in 1971 of Wairarapa RU & Bush RFU.

We also celebrate our Coaches & Selectors over the pass 49 years.

During our look back from 1971 through to 2020 we shall highlight both union’s records and then from 1971 the season history of Wairarapa-Bush RFU.

So lets go …

We hope you enjoy this look back as we look forward to many more years of recording the history of Wairarapa-Bush Rugby Union.

(Player cap numbers are awarded as too when they started a match or came on as a replacement as listed in First Class Matches published in NZRU Rugby Almanacks 1971-2020)

Farriers Wairarapa Bush Heartland Coach
and Assistant Coaches Announcement
https://wp.me/p4apEV-3nP

It is with great pleasure to announce Mark Rutene as the Head Coach of the Farriers Wairarapa Bush Heartland team and his Assistant Coaches, Brent Wilson and Nathan Riwai-Couch for the 2021 and 2022 Heartland Season.

Shay O’Gorman has been reappointed as Team Manager, and Davide Castorina as Physio.

The combined experience of the three-man coaching setup, supported by the continuity of incumbents Shay and Davide, will continue the positively received strategy of selecting “local player or players of origin” and keeping with our “building within” policies.
