Ok let’s talk about something uncomfortable ‼️ P R I C I N G & what is appropriate for your level of expertise…. It honestly baffles me when I see someone charging close to the same price as me when I: •purchase high quality ingredients •make sure everything is prepared appropriately & that the pairings match •create literal food art THAT ⬆️ is a reason to charge more than your other local charcuterie businesses. Now let’s talk about businesses who DON’T do those things. If you’re out here buying Sam’s/Costco meats & cheeses, and your prices are within a $5 difference of a local, professional’s prices…you are doing what is called PRICE GOUGING. That’s icky & people don’t like that. 🫣 If you are charging appropriately & your customers know that you purchase all of your items from Sam’s/costco, that’s a different story. You are targeting a totally different market & are giving yourself more work to do, when you could totally find a cheese wholesaler & increase your worth. My advice: Step out your comfort zone and venture out to improve your business. Practice your art consistently & stay up to date with all the new trends. You are only hurting yourself in the long run. So, the next time a customer tells you “oh wow I can find that so much cheaper somewhere else,” LET THEM. You can’t blame someone for wanting to get the biggest bang for their buck, even if their final decision turned out to be a terrible idea. They’ll be back. 🧀 ***this isn’t a post to bring anyone down. If you feel attacked, do better. 😘
