When we started this business we assumed we would be doing mostly decorating services for events and people's homes.
Then we discovered talent and passion for planning and coordination and then circled back to rentals!
I've been wanting to change the official page names of the main CDS accounts to "Century Events" for awhile but am hesitant since the existing name/brand of Century Decor Studio has been established for so many years!
Questions to other business owners:
- If you did a branding change on social media, have you had any trouble having clients find you under the new name?
- did your old tags to the old brand name still take clients to the new profile name?
Questions to followers/clients/potential clients:
- is this utterly confusing and I'm going to lose people or do you not even pay attention to the name on the profile?
Naming this page Century Events makes it clearer that we provide planning and coordination services, and having the separated brand of Century Rentals is it's own thing.

Printed Programs. Just don't.
1. Waste of paper
2. 90% of your guests will not read them
3. 80% of your guests will not take them home
4. 100% of the programs that do not get taken home will go in the trash
5. 50% of the ones that DO go home will go in the trash
6. 90% of the ones that make it home and don't immediately go in the trash will go in a junk drawer or in a stack on a desk and THEN in the trash.
Don't waste your money, your time, or the logistics it takes to hand them out or find a cute basket for them to sit in on a welcome table.
Use those dollars towards your charcuterie table, a custom cocktail, a bigger bouquet, just about anything!

We know it's adorable to see a little tyke head down the aisle with rings in hand and hand them off to the officiant or one of the attendants!
We've also seen rings get dropped in the grass, through the boards over water, and just generally go missing.
We prefer to not have anyone under 18 to carry the REAL rings down the aisle.
If you need something for your ring bearers to carry, give them a ring box, and if needed you can put some cheapie rings in the box to keep the kiddos excited about the importance of their task!

Anywhere there’s an empty corner, add a small collection of lanterns, pillars, or taper candles. If any of your event is going to be outside, and after desk, hang a bunch of cafe lights! Have an indoor cocktail lounge? Add some table lamps!
Lighting is the secret to softening a space and making it feel cozy, even if it’s a wide-open meadow!

Many clients balk at the cost of linen rental, but do they know what they are actually paying for?
Yes, you can purchase a 120” round tablecloth online for anywhere from $10-$50 depending on material! When it arrives on your doorstep you will have a ten-foot piece of fabric folded into a small package for shipping… and that means folds, creases, and wrinkles galore.
Some manufacturers also use vinegar or chemicals to set the color of the fabric, so often your linens will arrive with a heavy smell.
if you have not had the pleasure of ironing a 10-foot round tablecloth, go ahead and give it a shot on a Sunday afternoon and time yourself!
renting your linens from us (or any other rental company) will ensure that each tablecloth is clean, and pressed for the minimal number of fold lines!
A few fold lines are okay, but wrinkles show up in your detail shots!
Also, ask detailed questions about any venue that includes linens in their amenities - are they being pressed beforehand, or have they only been washed and dried?

We are in the middle of high summer and that means HEAT!
One of the first questions we usually ask at a Venue is "where is the drinking water coming from?"
This week is a good reminder to us and anyone else planning an event: VERIFY where the drinking water is coming from!
Fortunately we have solutions but it's not fun for clients to find out last minute that there will be an expense for drinking water for their guests.
And Venues? We're looking at you! Please provide potable water!
