Don't steal art!

Stealing artwork is pretty low. If anyone can help us get a hold of these folks it would be greatly appreciated.

Update: we’re in contact with one of the two, thanks for the help, everyone!

The College Years 009 -- Mortal Engines

We're on the airwaves! Well, soundwaves at least. Our cofounder Noel sat down on location at The Happy Place with the hosts of Movie Babies to review the recently-released film Mortal Engines, an ambitious post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie produced by Peter Jackson.

Normally this Bellingham-based podcast features reviews of movie trailers (after all, what is a trailer if not a "movie-baby?") BUT in this special "College Years" edition they actually review the entire movie. Spoiler alert: they hated it!

Some highlights:
- Roving cities that eat other cities (aka Municipal Darwinism)
- Robot zombie father-figures
- Wait, is this movie actually Star Wars?

Check it out on the Movie Babies website below:

We interrupt your regularly scheduled Movie Babies to bring you this special episode of The College Years where we review not a trailer but the entire film! Celebrity Guest Noel Abbot of Bellingham’s The Happy Place returns to follow up his review of the Mortal Engines trailer

Happy Place Jams: Mary Vlasuk

Mary Vlasuk is an American-born singer/songwriter who currently resides in Berlin. She writes bluesy ballads and love-serenades that fill the room with joy, sadness, and longing, and she performs them live on vocals and guitar, occasionally accompanied by a clarinet. In Germany, you can often find her organizing events for Berlin Spoken Word and singing at local bars and music venues.

Mary grew up in the Skagit Valley, but has lived in Germany for over 5 years. She recently came home for a visit, and while she was here we asked her to be our inaugural performer for "Happy Place Jams," a video series we are starting up to highlight talented soloists, ensembles, and acoustic acts.

We hope you enjoy her songs as much as we do!

NW Sunworks is excited to present this video about our Sundial Mural Project, slated for installation this June.

The mural is titled "Savor the Gifts of this Hour" and was designed by Gretchen Leggitt. It features the golden hour of sunset over Skagit Valley and will have a 3D sundial component that will tell time year-round. As a constant reminder of our innate relationship to the cycle of days and seasons, this mural will also help educate people about the environment and the cosmos, and will hopefully inspire moments of reflection and inspiration for those who encounter it.

This is a community-funded project and we need your help to bring our vision to reality! Please consider making a tax-deductible donation via our fiscal sponsor Allied Arts Of Whatcom County to cover the cost of the paint, materials, equipment rental, and labor that it will take to get this beautiful work of art finished.

If you are able to, please donate via the link below:

http://alliedarts.org/bellinghamsundialmural

If you are unable to donate, please pass this video on to your friends and tag your favorite local businesses who might be interested in one of the sponsorships we have available :)

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING PUBLIC ART!!!
