Join the talented musicians of the Southern Illinois Concert Band as they present their musical thoughts on the eclipse due to visit our area. This event is scheduled for two performances. April 6 at 7:00PM and April 7 at 2:00PM.

Under the direction of conductor, David Wickes Jr., the program will feature selections all related to the cosmos. Highlighting the concert will be the premier of a multimedia based selection composed by Southern Illinois resident and musician Mike Thomas. Based on the thoughts of famed astronomer Carl Sagan, Mike combines a musical interpretation together with visual imagery to give voice to the famed visionary.

It's hard to believe but this year's big event will be number five and counting. Plan on attending this, always fun, event and spend the day. There will be plenty of vendors, artists, and costumes all over the place in this day long pageant to all things pop culture. Gaming tournaments and a fantastic, not to be missed, cosplay contest highlight the Con. So start preparing, get the sewing machine out and plan on attending Southern Illinois' biggest pop culture happening!

Come see the movie everyone is talking about. Plenty of award show buzz going on with this one. This Friday night Benton Civic Center will be showing the hit movie of last summer, Barbie. All sponsored by Leffler Funeral Home of Benton . Doors open at 6:45PM and the movie starts at 7:30PM. As part of the celebration Leffler Funeral Home will be giving away a fantastic Barbie Playhouse to one lucky winner who must be in attendance. Admission is only $2 per person.

Join film buffs Tom Herman and Jim Batts as they introduce the third and final film in our CINEMA CELEBATION. Together they will share tales about the film and explain just why this film is considered one of, if not the greatest, Sci-Fi movies of all time!

2001: A Space Odyssey is a 1968 epic science fiction film produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick. The screenplay was written by Kubrick and science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke, and was inspired by Clarke's 1951 short story "The Sentinel" and other short stories by Clarke.

The film stars Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood, William Sylvester, and Douglas Rain and crosses the ages from the beginning mankind and culminating in a voyage by astronauts, scientists, and the sentient supercomputer HAL to Jupiter to investigate an alien monolith and beyond.

Every day for three days we’ll screen an afternoon film for kids and families and each evening, film aficionados, Jim Batts and Tom Herman will introduce the evening’s film for adults sharing fun facts, trivia, and scandalous tidbits (if any) about the featured films. Jim, a bona fide film critic, is bringing along some Hollywood ‘swag’ he's collected to give away to audience members if they know the right answers.

We present Cinema Celebration!

Take a very powerful and state of the art projector and match it together with some powerful state of the art minds and you come up with Cinema Celebration coming this December at the Center. Designed to provide something for everyone we're going to show films for kids in the afternoons and then films for the adult movie fans in the evenings.

Special guests and ultimate movie buffs Tom Herman and Jim Batts will present each of the evening films sharing fun facts, history and reasons why the selected film is important.

The Civic Center will no longer host it's annual Thanksgiving weekend Craft & Gift Show.

It's been a good run but sooner or later all things must come to an end. The decision has been made to end our yearly craft and gift show. After COVID things just did not return to normal. The Civic Center thanks it's loyal vendors and guests who, over the years, made this show the success it was.
