So, a couple of weeks ago we hosted a country blue grass band from South Korea. I must admit it was a little strange, but they were excellent!

I got a chance to feed some folks before and we wanted to do things that our guests would know from home and things that would be familiar to our American palates too.

Served kimchi meatloaf with a gochujang glaze, Korean cheese corn, Korean potato salad, stir fried zucchini, cream cheese garlic rolls, and of course fresh fruit and mochi with red bean paste.

As you know I've always been a big advocate of supporting a fellow small business. Billie's Sweet Treats and I have been friends since her opening and I am so proud to call her a friend. She is incredibly talented and dedicated. Both her and Brent are a sweet treat to our community (see what I did there? 😆) I had a couple of rehearsal dinners in June and called on her to help. Here are a few of the beautiful cakes that she made for us.

Okay, okay, I know that Halloween is a bit away but it is never too early to start planning out things to do with the kiddos in the fall and there is nothing better than this.

We are so excited to announce that we are holding out first annual Pups, Pumpkins, and Potions! We will have puppies, pumpkin carving for the kiddos (and we are doing mini's so they can take them with them), and a hot chocolate bar. If any of you have had my hot chocolate then you know that alone is worth coming out.

So come out and support a great cause, have a bit of fun, warm up with some (boozy) hot chocolate, don't worry I won't tell anyone, and then hit the downtown block party with Mainstreet Cleveland!!

Thanks to Mainstreet Clevelandand for allowing me to have a bit of fun with their food. Six months out of the year they have lunch with me and this was our first go. My play on one of America's favorite take out food fried rice. Look at those cute to go boxes! They got to top it with toppings of their choice, served my home made carrot ginger soup, of course you have to have fresh fruit, and cupcakes. I even tossed some fortune cookies on their tables for authenticity.

Y'all the last couple of weeks have been crazy! We had our annual Museum and Cultural Center at 5ive Points Gala this past Saturday and let me tell you it was the event of the year. I didn't get pictures because I was running around like a crazy person lol. Pictures are not posted yet on our FB page but as soon as they are I'll share them to my page.

Glad to see that everyone survived snowmageddon 2024 😂😂 though I can't complain it was a nice couple of days to chill.

Shannon and I also made our annual trip out to GA to go to Hmart. It's a massive Asian market where we eat and stock up. We went to a different one this time as last year we were in that super bad car accident and well, we decided not to tempt fate this year.

Shannon and I hope that everyone had a perfect Christmas. We did ABSOLUTELY nothing, it was completely divine. This is the first Christmas in four years that there was no stress, I almost cried lol. We would like to thank Lucy Knott Rymer and the Museum and Cultural Center at 5ive Points for our Christmas dinner. My boss and my work were generous and gave us a lovely gift card and this is what we did with it.

This my friends is a classic French chateaubriand. One of the most tender cuts of beef and I got to play with my sous vide machine too! What more can a girl ask for? We served it with a side of potato dauphinoise and roasted carrots.

This is Christmas Eve dinner. Slow roasted pork belly complete with fluffy bao buns and quick pickled cucumbers and red onions with cilantro. Yum yum.

Made one of these tonight for a gathering looks strange huh? It's a butter board and even though you are probably reading this right now and shaking your head in disbelief thinking your cardiologist is freaking out, it'll be okay because it's AMAZING. You only live once right? High quality salted butter as your canvas then do what you will. Sit down with a group of butter lovin friends, crack open the wine, and let it flow.

We eat a large variety of foods at home and with closing the cafe down and having a more set schedule I've been cooking more at home which I know Shannon enjoys very much. Summertime I use a lot of veggies and last night we had pan seared cod with a Mediterranean style salad on top and pomegranate bulgar. It was delicious!

Well I had to move offices Tuesday and was called in today so I thought what better way to pass what is supposed to be my vacation at work than with a chocolate chip cookie and milk. Yes, y'all, I'm drinking milk out of a mason jar. That's when you know all the Northener in you is gone. 😂😂

So so much to share! I know that I've been MIA for a few weeks but I've had good reason. It's been a whirlwind of things happening one right after each other from working on our kitchen, getting our new patio lights installed, hiring a team, building a department, still running and setting up events, and that is just the tip of the iceberg.

I am excited to report that yesterday morning we got our kitchen approved to serve food! So if you see this Adam Moss please let Karen know lol. I got to serve my first charcurterie board out of it last night.

Our kitchen is still a work in progress and we hope to have 95% of it done by the middle of September full stocked for the most part. We have cleaned it since the pictures were taken.

I hope that in November right after Thanksgiving (I'll keep ya posted) that Small Business Saturday we will be serving some lunch and specialty drinks to the public 😍😍.

This was my first big event at the Museum last night. It was absolutely beautiful and once started a lot of fun. They had a live and silent auction dinner and a comedian Karen Mills there! I spent two days with this lively group setting up and running their event. Thank you so much Sunrise Rotary Club of Cleveland!

Okay I know it's been a couple of weeks since my last post and it's been a whirlwind couple of weeks but I have so much to share with you! This is the first post of four so keep up with me!

I had my first event last Friday for a wonderful couple that I am so lucky to now be able to call friends. Here are a few pictures of their reception with us, it was a beautiful night. Flowers were by Perry's Petals and food was catered by Little Diner On 1st.

Almost time! The trucks are here and almost ready. 6pm y'all come get some food the smell is amazing 🥳🎉🤤🤤🤤

Well it's been almost a year when we relocated the salad bar to the kitchen along with everything else due to the COVID outbreak. Due to some ventilation issues in the kitchen tonight and almost a year to the day, we moved everything back out into the dining room like when we first opened our doors. It'll be a bit weird, especially for me lol, I've been hiding in my kitchen for about a year now randomly snacking on food here and there. So, come on by tomorrow and check out the redo of the restaurant. We'll have butternut squash bisque, mushroom brie soup, asparagus parmesan quiche, and our special tortellini salad. Call ahead and order, I'LL see you at lunch! Oh and me saying "shooting a video" was directed towards my husband and he just came strolling out into the dining room. 😆😆

Okay we had to get a little creative today because I forgot to get a pie crust for tomato pie we are going to try out individual tomato pies with a biscuit crust! Fingers crossed it works we'll let everyone know in about an hour. We still need your old cookbooks! Bring one or two in and we'll give you 10% off your meal and then there is always a little bit of you that we carry in the restaurant 🥰🥰. I am also so excited to show off the start of our retail wall! We are getting ready for fresh bread, produce, and hopefully beautiful flowers and strawberries. That's just to start!

A little about me.....

Hi!

My name is Kim and this little restaurant that I have opened has been a dream in the making for the last 25 years. I have worked in restaurants, hotels, bars, B&B’s, liquor stores, pretty much anything that had to do with food and beverage. These adventures have taken me to some of the most beautiful places in the United States. San Diego, Coronado Island CA, Islamorada FL Keys, Asheville NC, Pinehurst NC, Block Island RI, Mackinaw Island MI, Kiawah Island SC, and finally to Charleston SC were I met and married my husband. We came to Cleveland a little over 3 years ago and are so happy to call this home. We are so excited to see the upcoming changes happening in our town and I love being in the downtown area. My hope is as our downtown area grows the restaurant will go with it.
