We would like to give a HUGE thank you to the Lions Club of Columbia City for the generous donation of $2,500 to the Shop With A Cop Event! We are so thankful to be able to give back to the community!

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on all of the blessings that we have in our lives. One of our greatest blessings is being able to share with you or someone you may know that simply needs a helping hand.

With that being said, we will be giving away a turkey and pie to those who may not be able to otherwise have one for Thanksgiving. They will become available at Big G's Sports Cafe starting today November 17th during normal business hours.

We ask only one per household in order to help as many families as possible.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Gary and Heather Parrett

**Update: Not all customers will be receiving the letter. We will be targeting specific areas over time.**

You may have recently received a letter that looked like this. This letter IS Legitimate. Due to changes in the Federal laws (in part because of the Flint Michigan situation), all communities across Indiana are taking an inventory of any lead lines connected to houses.

I want to stress that if you have a lead line, it does NOT put you in any danger. Our water is not corrosive, meaning that the water doesn't "eat" the lead lines causing Lead poisoning (like Flint). We are, however, going to be mandated in the future to change out any lead lines that are connected to our system.

In the past we have replaced any lead lines we come across. However, many lines that connect the Water Meter to the House (which is typically the resident's responsibility), can be lead depending on when the home was built. Thus, we have to verify where lead is throughout our system.

Feel free to contact me or the Water Superintendent (Mike Shoda) if you have any questions regarding the letter or lead lines.

At approximately 8:30 this morning Columbia City and Columbia Twp Fire Departments were dual dispatched on an automatic fire alarm at the high school. Columbia City Engine 101 arrived to find a broken sprinkler pipe inside the school with water flowing. Working with maintenance personnel, they were able to get the water stopped within about 10 minutes of arrival. CTFD provided back fill coverage for the city and command of the incident. The building was turned back over to maintenance for repair and cleanup.
