Wright State University is excited to announce the Wright State Music/Springfield Symphony Orchestra Diversity Fellowship 2023-34
One Year Program, starting Fall 2024
I. Earn a Performance Specialist Certificate at WSU, tuition free
Study with our deeply experienced Artist Faculty
Perform with top WSU ensembles
Perform and record a recital in state-of-the-art Schuster Hall
II. Perform with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra for selected services, participate regularly as a mentor with SSO education programs, assist SSO in building community engagement with education partners in Springfield. Compensation paid per service.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Music
Open to players of any standard orchestral instrument
Under-represented domestic minority student (BIPOC)
Audition Requirements:
One movement of a standard concerto or sonata
4-5 Standard Excerpts for your instrument

Audition procedure:
Send brief letter of interest and 1 page resume to Dr. Chaffee
Apply to WSU graduate school
Submit link to unlisted youtube video by 1 March 2024. Video must be unedited, shot in two continuous takes- one for concerto/sonata, one for excerpts.
Finalists will be notified and invited for a short interview in person or via zoom
Fellow will be notified on 1 April 2024.
Housing with host families and other assistance will be available if necessary.
