So, twenty years ago I saw the Cramps with Kendra Kinsella. Lux cut his pants off with a broken wine bottle. I went to My friend Rob’s warehouse, got drunk and got kicked out with my friend Adam Adamwicz because we found Rob’s trombone and I found a noise maker.Webmafe horrible music until Rob kicked us out. We went back to where I was staying (I had just gotten out of a long relationship) He passed out face stone the living room floor, I slept on a pile of blankets in the basement. The next day me, him, and Baker had a painful hungover breakfast at Charlie Browns and came up with what would become Hogbutler. Adam died in 2012, I still miss that talented m**o. I’m going to tell my favorite Opee Patzkowsky story: one night at Hogbutler a fight started, we pushed it out into the street. Two people squared off, one of them, we’ll call him bu****le, acted like he had a gun by putting his hand at the small of his back. Opee walked by him acting all nonchalant and saw that bu****le just had his bare hand against the small of his back. Opee said “what’re ya gonna do, slap us?”
I then walked bu****le over to Mississippi street so no one beat his ass. That’s how I remember a brilliant artist, a good friend, and a goofy ass mf, who could be a tough bouncer when needed and a gentle man with a sense of humor the rest of time. RIP, brother.
