A lot is said about “morning routines,” but usually as they pertain to what you do before work. I believe we need to think about work morning routines, too: On any given office day, the first order of business on my list is writing a blog post. Yes — this beats out checking my email, responding to comments or even scouting locations.

We’ll that is if I’m not heading to a sunrise session!! Alexandra & Randel opting for the amazing sunrise 🌅!

The reason is that the first thing in the morning is when I tend to be most focused and I don’t want to waste that energy on my inbox.

Although you can usually find me hunkered down at my desk (editing photos like these ones of Christa & Jason!), I’ve created quite a few other interesting “workplaces” through the years. Other places I’ve set up shop include: In the car, at the airport, & even on a chairlift. There’s totally something to be said for having a dedicated place to work, but ultimately all I need is the bare essentials you need to work, a laptop or phone, and I’ll get it done.

Today, I am able to spend time with my fur baby in the office — and I’m choosing gratitude.

On the flip side of this, there are challenges. I mean, how easy would it be for me to say “I’m so busy” or “I’m so tired” or “I wast to be outside” or anything along those lines? (Believe me, I do have those thoughts.) But focusing on that has never served me well.
