I am truly saddened to hear about the passing of the QUEEN of the MISSISSIPPI DELTA BLUES, Denise LaSalle. I have had the honor of working beside this remarkable LEGEND on numerous occasions and her LOVE and Passion for the BLUES has INSPIRED and continues to MOTIVATE me to remain on my path of promoting and preserving MISSISSIPPI'S Musical Heritage. In 2009, I had the honor of presenting Mrs. LaSalle with a marker on the Mississippi Blues Trail in her hometown of Belzoni, Mississippi. In 2014, we honored Mrs. LaSalle at the Jackson Rhythm and Blues Festival with the Blues Pioneer Award and during the 2017 Chicago Blues Festival I had the priviledge of working with Mrs. LaSalle on the Mississippi Juke Joint Stage to close out the event. There are so many memories and encounters to name, but I am grateful for them all. You will truly be missed, but your LEGACY will live on. There will never be another Blues Diva like you, my playlist will forever cue "Paper Thin," "My Tu-Tu," "Drop That Zero," "Trapped," and "I'm Still The Queen!"
