What a fun wedding last Saturday, when Rebecca and Dean were married on April 27, 2024. A personal connection was made since Dean's relatives, going back to the 1940's, lived and worked this 281 year old farm. Dean's father reminisced about the house and property, pointing out where many barns and farm structures were located back then and how the land expanded beyond the present property lines.
Set up week went smoothly with everything in its place and a rehearsal completed with ease. The next morning, the weather was cloudy but no rain in the forecast. The ladies arrived for the wedding day to first finish decorating at the Ceremony Site while chairs were being placed by our staff. Then, off they went to be made beautiful by Danene Jensen & Associates. Before long, Buck's County Nursery and Florist arrived to add sunflower cornices to the trellis at the Ceremony Site and fill 24 Mason jars with sunflower bouquets on the dining tables in the Morton for the reception, as well as, bring beautiful bouquets and boutinnieres to the ladies, and the guys who took up residence in the toyhauler. Reilly Entertainment Group rolled in to hook up their dj equipment and photobooth as the fairy lighting and votives were illuminated for the big day. Catrina Carlson Photography arrived and began her shoot with the girls. Then, someone looked at the radar on their phone and announced an unexpected rain event was barreling at us with the arrival slated for the same time as the ceremony! So, myself and the groomsmen quickly disassembled the floral pieces from the trellis, removed the chairs and signage from the outdoor Ceremony Site, created an aisle in the Morton Barn and added the chairs. DJ Reilly had to move his equipment as well.
Then, the groom and groomsmen went off to dress and made it on time for their pre-ceremony photo shoot with Catrina Carlson Photography. C & C Catering and our bartender, Chelsea & Jared, arrived and did their set ups at some point during the transition of moving an outdoor Ceremony to an indoor one. Tori's Treats arrived with a beautiful little cutting cake, embellished with a sunflower.
So now it's wedding time, and guests have arrived and have been seated. Quick instructions were shared by me with the bridal party, since an indoor rehearsal was not done the day before. In the stable area attached to the Morton, parents began the processional, then the groom and groomsmen entered through a side doorway to their places at the "alter", a prop brought in for a quick transition like this. The bridesmaids emerged from the stable entry down the 100' aisle and finally Rebecca made her debut, escorted by her Dad. The service was short and sweet and the guests were then invited to the 1820's Bank Barn after the recessional for Cocktail Hour since the rain underachieved making outdoor bridal party and family photos possible. Chelsea and Jared opened the bar as C & C Catering butlered appetizers while DJ Reilly's tunes played on the air.
At the end of Cocktail Hour, guests were invited to the Morton while the bridal party stayed behind to be staged for introductions and then off they went! Speeches, toasts and dances followed. The buffet of delicious fare prepared and served by C & C Catering opened as the alcohol began to flow, provided by our mixologists, Chelsea and Jared. This is when I get my horses fed and my mini pigs put to bed. It's so discreet so no one notices.
The dessert table was filled by Itallian pastries, cookies and other treats from NYC, provided by C&C Catering as the cake by Tori's Treats was cut by the bride and groom. Reilly Entertainment Group filled the dancefloor with a lively playlist until the night had to come to an end.
Thank you Rebecca and Dean for have us as part of your wedding day. We enjoyed your family and friends immensely!
