** ANNOUNCEMENT ** After a short run, unfortunately, we will have to depart from 🦄 ANIMAL BAR 🦄 for Open Mic. We have had an absolutely fantastic attendance every single week, however, people are not buying drinks and food at the bar. This being the case, as nice as the stage and sound is, etc., it’s just not a good fit for our community, price wise.
I apologize for the false start. For everyone that I had booked through mid August for Featured Artist… I am truly sorry and I apologize! I want to thank each, and everyone of you that has come out to support and shared their amazing talent on the stage! I’d like to thank Jared @jaredbonee for running sound, and for Jonathan Giambra for taking stories.
Like I’ve said in the past, it’s not about the venue, it’s about the community, and we will find a new place. I’m sure there is a way we can manifest this! I would like to keep the venue in the North Hollywood or adjacent areas (Burbank, Hollywood, Studio City).

I have been missing our community so much! I would like to thank @transamentertainment for their help and for keeping an eye out for a venue for us! I am excited to say that they will be providing sound for us and there will be a back line. I will let you guys know more on that as soon as I have more information.
🦄 ANIMAL BAR 🦄 is located upstairs at the 🎳Pinz Bowling Alley🎳 @pinzla in Studio City! It’s only a few exits down from our old spot, so it’s not that further.
When looking for a new home for us, I really wanted to keep our Wednesday nights and also the parking was important and guess what… There’s FREE PARKING!!
Instead of “Featured Artists”, should we have “Featured Animals!?! 🦄🎉🤪
There will be a few changes. We will be doing an Open Mic Lottery instead of first come first serve for sign-up. This venue is a 21 and up venue. I had hoped to find an all ages venue, but it’s not easy to come by. Here are the details below:

When I first started this open mic, it was only two months before the pandemic and of course we got shut down! So in May of last year, we started back up, but with a new sound system, new lights, and a back line to boot! We had maybe 10 - 12 people coming each week. Within a few months, it doubled and now we’re up to 25 to 30 people every Wednesday!
The amount of incredibly talented people that come to this open mic every week is awesome! I also want to thank the comics, performance artists, and poets that come down and share their art form with us! What y’all bring to the stage is extremely important and valued! ❤️
I’ve seen people just starting out grow so much over the past year. I’ve seen people who haven’t played it in a while finally have the courage to get on stage, work on their chops and start playing shows again! I have seen incredibly talented musicians get together and collaborate and do shows together and form bands.
Kudos to every single person that has had the audacity and courage to get up on that stage! 🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻
We have all been through a lot with this pandemic and trying to navigate the new music scene out here has been very interesting! But with this great community, everyone has been so supportive of one another and it truly has been amazing!
You all have inspired me quite a bit as I have been working out my own musical demons! After being out of the music scene for a bit and my album taking so long and still not being out, I was starting to feel like a hack! Seeing you all do what you do has really helped me come out of my musical depression!! Y’all should be seeing me play more shows this coming year! I know some of you think that I’m just a promoter and that I run an open mic and a showcase, but I am a musician just like y’all! I empathize and feel every single one of you!
