The Los Angeles based organization has grown to 60 members with ages ranging from 7 to 18 years old. Through the years, OCYC has collaborated with many communities, including Caucasian, African-America, Latino, and Asian-American, to spread its message of Christian faith and ethnic unity. On August 28, 1989, the Opera California Company registered as a non-profit organization with the state of Cal

ifornia. Today, they are known in the Korean-American community for their talented members, working to better the community both local and abroad through their musical performances. Current and former members of OCYC have won numerous prizes in international music competitions. The group is also renowned for the fact that many of its staff is "homegrown." Former members return as conductors, pianists, choreographers, teachers, and mentors for the members of Opera California Youth Choir. In summer of 2004, members of Opera California Youth Choir toured Rwanda and Uganda to perform their musical, "For God So Loved the World." In conjunction with the musical, OCYC also produced and recorded two gospel albums in 2002 and 2004 in Swahili and Rwandan. The tour was met with rave reviews from both local and national media. OCYC plans to continue its missionary work with communities throughout the world. Powered by God's everlasting and eternal love, OCYC hopes to bridge the gap between generations and unite them as a family, armed with a diverse genre of worship and praise.
