KEEP YOUR GUESTS 🕺💃 DANCING
We know a few things about packing the dance floor:
1. Position your bars nearby.
2. Bride and groom should be the center of the action. They set the tone.
3. Create a layout with dance floor front and center in the space.
4. Avoid ipod play lists at all costs. A great band or DJ can read the room, and play to the crowd to keep the energy high.
5. Consult a pro on the right size of dance floor for your group, but keep it cozy.
6. Strategically position band breaks during speeches or cake so as not to kill the mood.
7. Minimize activities that distract guests from dancing.
8. Tray pass late night treats.
9. Play a mix of recognizable music for all ages.

it blows my mind to see all the ingenuity that the engineers & artists who created these techniques were coming from.
It’s simple, don’t have a drummer? Make the drummer’s part in the studio! But without digital processing & MIDI, they literally slowed down the drums from their previous radio hit. These guys are genius, & I’m personally reminded of the integrity & finesse that their soundtrack captures on the film “Saturday Night Fever”
All music captures ideas, moments in time, & human perseverance. That’s so special. Don’t forget why you started creating & I hope that this inspired you too. If they can do it in 1977, what’s stopping you?

There’s an art to keeping guests on the dance floor. Here are tips to keep in mind:
1. DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY: Your guests will follow your lead. If you, as the couple, aren’t dancing, they will likely follow suit.
2. PUT A BAR (OR TWO) NEAR THE DANCE FLOOR: place bars near the dance floor so guests can step off the dance floor for a quick refill and get back to dancing as quickly as possible.
3. DON’T LEAVE GUESTS SITTING AT THE TABLES FOR TOO LONG: Having a long dinner adds formality to your event. However, when creating your menu, make sure to work with your chef and catering team to deliver the meal as efficiently as possible. If you leave guests at a dinner too long, your band will have their job cut out for them when it comes to building momentum for dancing.
4. DON’T HAVE TOO MANY DISTRACTIONS: elements such as photobooths, tequila tastings and outdoor lounges divide guest’s attention. To keep them focused on dancing, limit extras to one distraction max.
5. LET THE BAND/DJ READ THE CROWD: It can be tempting to direct every song for the band and the DJ, but the best parties give the experts the space to change gears if guests aren’t responding to your original requests. DJs can get out of a song within a few seconds if the song they’re playing clears the dance floor. Similarly, bands can watch crowd response and adjust as well.
6. BRING LATE NIGHT SNACKS TO THE DANCE FLOOR: While we love a late night food truck as much as anyone, having guests order from said food truck only distracts from the dance floor. When possible, have late night snacks passed on the dance floor or save late night snacks as something guests grab as they’re leaving the wedding.

Here’s sneak peek of the Moon Units at our event for USC Informational Sciences Institute at the Grammy Museum this past weekend. The Moon Units are not only an amazing band. They also offer live band karaoke so you and your guests can be the stars of the show at your next event. Way too much fun!
