11th Annual Pickin At The Post Bluegrass Weekend

Mike and I have started reaching out to everyone about camping spots. We have made contact and are proud to say most all of you are returning! We did have about 4 cancellations and we were able to fill those from the wait list! If we have talked to you in person, on the phone, by text or by Facebook we have your confirmation and your spot is reserved. If you are someone that we do not have a good phone number for or if we are not connected on Facebook, please reach out to us at 540-244-6416 or 540-742-2338. There are only a few people that we did not have contact information for. We are so fortunate that all 118 spots are filled and we still have almost 30 people on our waiting list. However, we will work through filling spots as fast as we can "if" anything opens up. Most of you confirm your spot for the next year before you leave the event and that's greatly appreciated...it's the best way to ensure your spot for the following year! Lots of you have been there from the first year and we truly appreciate your support! You help make this event so successful! We look forward to seeing everyone Labor Day Weekend!

Don't forget....We will be selling raffle tickets on this awesome instrument! The drawing will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the event. ONLY 3 MONTHS AWAY! Can you believe it? Plans are well underway. Just a few notes/updates to pass along! 1. We are at capacity for camping spots. However, Mike and I are making calls and sending Facebook messages to confirm. We have a waiting list and people will be called in the order they went on the list if spots open up. 2. We are getting some AMAZING raffle/auction prizes and packages. We can't thank the community enough for their generosity. 3. We will have the dime pitch again this year so bring those coins! 4. We have booked Flotzie's for ice cream and Nothing Bundt Cakes will also be there! Cake and ice cream...great combination! 5. We have Brandon Burkholder doing sound for this year's event. He does not disappoint! 6. As always, we will have our homemade concessions all 3 days and the VFW Auxiliary will serve breakfast each day. 7. New this year...Karaoke on Thursday night. This will allow everyone to get together and fellowship before the big event starts on Friday. Please join in the fun! The VFW Auxiliary will be selling a special meal that night...I do believe a BBQ Chicken dinner is in the works! 8. We will be doing a bake sale again this year. We would appreciate any donations of cakes, pies, etc. 100% of the proceeds will benefit our veterans! We will keep you updated! We can't wait to see everyone!

In the next few days, we will start our calling process to determine who will be returning to the 11th Annual Pickin' At The Post. If you have messaged or called Beth or Mike that you are returning this year, we have you down and your site is secured. All 118 spots are reserved at this time, and we have 26 people on the waiting list! We feel so blessed. We will work hard to get people a site if anyone informs us that they are not using their spot. We truly appreciate your support and cooperation!

RAFFLE...RAFFLE...RAFFLE! 100% of ticket sales go to our veterans! This beautiful Regal Resonator Guitar was generously donated by Troy and Marcie Abel to raffle off at Pickin At The Post! This was originally owned by Troy's brother that passed away several years ago. Troy said he knew that his brother would want him to donate this for a worthy cause like our veterans! We will sell tickets before and during the event. Tickets will officially go on sale May 1, 2024. You can message us here if you would like tickets. The drawing will be September 1, 2024 at 8 pm at Pickin' At The Post! You do not have to be present to win, but you will have to make arrangements to pick up the instrument if you are the winner. Tickets are $25 each or 2 for $40. THANK YOU Troy and Marcie....we truly appreciate this!

Happy Monday. We have our monthly planning meeting tonight for this year's event! Lots of things are in the works and we hope to bring you another successful event in our 11th year. We received some exciting news last night that we will be sharing soon! The generosity of people never ceases to amaze us and this year is no exception. Okay folks.....The lineup of artists for our 11th Annual Pickin At The Post will be announced soon! The flyer is completed and once we have our first committee meeting for next year's event, which will be in early January, we will get it posted! We are so excited to get to work on this event! Thanks to everyone that attends, plays music, donates items, etc....you help make it a success year after year! We hope this year will be bigger and better...that's what we always strive for! Mike Minnick and I will soon be making our initial contact to everyone that camped last year to be sure you still want your spot! If everyone returns, we are at capacity, but we do have a waiting list for those of you that have contacted us and were unable to get a spot. You can still be put on that list it you haven't contacted us yet. We are so blessed to have this event at capacity for camping, but will try to work with everyone the best way we can. There are numerous campgrounds and hotels/motels within 3 miles of the event. The contact information will be listed on the flyer. Again this year, we will have homemade concessions for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We will have auctions and raffles. We have 14 awesome bands and the Build A Band contest. NEW THIS YEAR...We will have a special supper on Thursday night along with karaoke starting at 6 pm. Make plans to join in the fun. As always, jamming is welcome in the campground and inside the Post building. Make plans to spend your labor day weekend PICKIN AT THE POST!

Well...we kept the surprise! We honored these individuals with crystal trophies and certificates of appreciation for their contributions and dedication to regional Bluegrass bands and venues. They were so deserving. Congrats Sharon Silver, Eric Alfredson and Lee Shifflett! Keep the videos and photos coming! The Bluegrass Family loves and appreciates all of you!

Wow...a record breaking weekend! We could not be more excited and thankful! You have the heartfelt appreciation of the Luray VFW Post and the PATP staff for all of your support! Our sponsors were so generous and the auction/raffle item donations were just incredible. We had a record number of campers and daily walk ins! We were at capacity...thank you for that! We hope you enjoyed the music, food, auctions/raffles, dime pitch and the duck hunt! The 14 bands did an amazing job for us...stellar talent was on that BO RODGERS MEMORIAL STAGE this weekend! Congrats to the Build A Band winners and those that won auctions/raffles! I could not do this without the support of the Luray VFW members and their Ladies Auxiliary. Thank you all. We also feel we had a great variety of vendors and we appreciate them coming! And to the PATP team....yall rock! If you cooked, sold tickets, laid off the campground, parked cars, worked the gate, picked up item and monetary donations, worked the auctions, picked up dimes, did house keeping or any of the other tasks...thank you! Thank you to our great emcees Canton Breeden and Kenny Lang...fine job! I know Bo was smiling on this event! We look to the 11th Annual Pickin At The Post with so much enthusiasm! The community has been so incredibly generous again this year! We have some truly amazing auction and raffle items. We have some pretty cool prizes in the dime pitch as well for those of you with some mad skills! Come get your tickets, place your bids and pitch those dimes! We are beyond excited and ready to see everyone! Thank you for your past support and we are hoping to make our 10th year the best yet! The community support has been beyond belief. We are so grateful. This will be evident when you see our list of sponsors, both monetary and by item donations. Last week, I was honored and so surprised when some special members of the Comer Jones VFW Post 621 announced their decision to name the new stage in Bo's memory. It warms my heart to know that Bo's name will forever be a part of this facility that he worked so hard to enhance. He did his best to grow this event that promotes Bluegrass music while helping our veterans! However, it was a labor of love, and I feel the same as I try to continue with his vision. Last week, WHSV interviewed some of us onsite about the event and the naming of the stage. If you haven't seen it, go check it out! Visit WHSV and look for the TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD segment. Again, my heartfelt "thank you" goes out to everyone at Comer Jones Post 621. I will forever be grateful to you!

We have added a few things this year! Yall visit our concession stand from 11 am to 9 pm. The ladies auxiliary will also be serving a nice breakfast from 7 am to 10 am all 3 days of the festival!

We will have burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, homemade sloppy joes, country ham sandwiches (while they last), white beans, fries, loaded baked potatoes, nachos, homemade slaw, desserts and drinks!

Good morning! We are getting so close to the festival and the Pickin' At The Post Team is getting pretty excited to say the least! We are looking so forward to seeing our Bluegrass Family.

There continues to be questions about times when campers can arrive. I apologize if we haven't communicated that well enough. So here ya go.....Campers can arrive on Thursday, Aug 31, starting at 10 am. Chairs can be placed under the pavilions starting at the same time.
