Our father has been farming apples and sweet dark cherries for over 25 years and of course made heaps of applesauce from our apples for both family and friends. The delicious sweet-tart flavor and thick, lumpy consistency of Grandma Judy’s recipe is hard to beat. High J Orchards’ applesauce tastes so delicious because it is handmade from simply great ingredients, our apples. We selected two of the

best tasting varieties, Honeycrisp and Fuji; we harvest them when ripe and at their sweetest, and carefully cook them in small batches much like you would do at home, careful to maintain the chunky texture. Naturally sweet, there is no need to add any sugars or sweeteners – our applesauce is pure and simple, and simply great tasting! Over the years, High J Orchards has become a trusted source for authentic homestyle applesauce. We started by growing the apples, and producing the most delicious applesauce your money can buy. In order to keep up with the growing demand we outgrew our own orchards production and currently source the freshest and best quality Honeycrisp and Fuji apples from local Washington orchards. Today, we're in full swing cooking our way thru 22,000 lbs of fresh Honeycrisp apples! It's one of our favorite days of the year as the whole plant smells of apples and cinnamon. Rumor has it that the community also looks forward to this event every year as the aroma of apples and cinnamon wafts thru the neighborhood... =)

Here are some highlights from today's Health Fair at the Rainier Beach Safeway. We thank the organizers at the Cliff Avril Family Foundation for inviting us to be a part of this awesome event!

For the first time in High J Orchards Chunky Applesauce history we are processing our applesauce in the spring time! Here is a glimpse of the process from start to finish. Co-owner Lis Brown said, "It feels like a field trip for a PBS kids program every time and it never gets old!"

We're holding demos at two Fred Meyer locations on Sunday. Stop by and sample our applesauce at the Ballard and Lynnwood stores. Bring a friend with you! Location and hours are listed below.
