USELESS, a darkly humored drama, investigates the relationship between a married couple of Eastern European immigrants involved in organ trafficking (Kora, formerly sex-trafficked and later saved by her now husband Chris), and Omy, a mentally challenged young man from a poor countr

y, brought to the U.S. for his kidney. The silent boy affects Chris and Kora in a profound way, triggering unexpected outbursts and changes. He becomes a sort of mirror for their unfulfilled dreams, hidden fears and desires, and ultimately makes them connect on a deeper level. Or so we hope. The play intersperses heightened realistic scenes with dreams, nightmares and daydreams that offer a glimpse into the characters' inner life and alternate reality. Director: Jose Zayas

It was a pleasure to give a guest artist talk on the topic of "Theatre and Artificial Intelligence" for the American Studies graduate program at the University of Bucharest. A wonderful group of smart and knowledgeable students asked insightful questions about my work, particularly my "AI plays" Zebra 2.0 and What Happens Next. The 90 minutes passed so fast as we also debated larger issues about the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the contemporary society, human-machine interactions, ethical aspects of AI development, theatre as a tool for exploring such expansive issues, interdisciplinarity in higher education, scientists&artists collaborations, etc. A truly inspiring conversation - thank you, Diana Benea, for the invitation.

Saviana Stanescu’s fictional dark comedy about immigration, street clowns and the American Dream premiered off-Broadway in 2008. To celebrate the play’s 15th anniversary, we sat down with the playwright to discuss her work and its enduring relevance.

" It’s time for us—artists, playwrights, theatre makers—to have a say in this AI debate as well. It’s a rich topic to explore and an important conversation to have. We must participate in the process of shaping the future of human-AI relations."

A pleasure to be interviewed by Lucía Cárdenas on her cool and insightful YouTube channel "What If I Say Yes".
I had to look back at my life and think about my 'yes'-es an 'no'-s.
Now you can all be my 'therapists' - did I make the right choice?
Kudos to Lucía for getting us to have these meaningful conversations and discoveries.
