The Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition was born from a desire to give young dancers a platform to compete in a fair, unpolitical forum. VKIBC has quickly gained an international reputation for its fair scoring. Judge’s scores are based exclusively on the abilities of the dancer and are not influenced by status of the school, coach or teacher. Dancers assemble for several days of co

mpetition. Competitors are scored meticulously by an esteemed panel of judges, all extremely qualified and reputable in their fields of expertise.

Whitney Jensen came to me at age 12 and stayed till age 17 . During those memorable times she succeeded in every performance, competition . She became Principal dancer with Boston Ballet soon after she entered the company .
She followed all my directions and now Whitney is very accomplished artist and equally powerful in classical and contemporary works .
So proud of you, Whitney!

Did you know that around 25 countries are represented every year at the Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition?

The participation in VIKBC serves as a transformative experience for these young artists, offering a multitude of opportunities.

Dancers have the ability to earn scholarships and contracts from various companies and gain exposure within the industry.

Participants from VKIBC have gone on to have wonderful careers in major companies all over the world. We are thrilled to play a small role encouraging them.

Our newest category within VKIBC is called Free Style Dance

Within this category, dancers are able to showcase their talent by choosing their own choreography and dance style, allowing them to truly express themselves on stage.

They will be provided with music choices and required technical elements, which adds a layer of challenge and structure to this category.

Free Style Dance challenges the conventional norms typically seen at traditional competitions, and we are eager to see how artists showcase their unique style on stage.

Introducing Free Style Dance, a new category within the Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition.

In Free Style Dance, dancers are encouraged to showcase their unique style and interpretation of the music. They have the freedom to choose their movements and transitions, allowing them to express their emotions and personality on stage.

While there is room for personal interpretation and creativity, this category will also have mandatory elements and music requirements, which adds a layer of challenge and structure.

This combination of mandatory elements and music selection within a framework of creative choreography, is what makes Free Style Dance an exciting and dynamic style that allows dancers to truly express themselves.

VALENTINA KOZLOVA, former principal dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet and New York City Ballet, and star of Broadway's "On Your Toes" and "A Christmas Carol" is pleased to announce a return to New York and the opening of classes for professional and pre-professional dancers, as well as warm-up classes for Broadway and off-Broadway performers. Valentina Kozlova is returning to teaching in NYC for the first time since the pandemic!

Through the Valentina Kozlova Dance Foundation, open classes for pre professional and professional ballet dancers will be offered, as well as private lessons. Kozlova has succeeded over the last 25 years in developing and improving artistry and quality of dancers, as well as placing her dancers in companies worldwide. Valentina will conduct her classes and privates through Open Jar Studios.
