THIS EVENT IS TRULY DEDICATED TO ALL THE HEROES THIS WEEKEND!!!!

I truly wanted to dedicate this event to all the heroes…..who made this show happen!!!

It takes a village to put on a horse trials! Our sport relies on enthusiastic volunteers every step of the way - from helping to prepare the grounds to maintaining and painting jumps, to day-of volunteer crews! We are extremely grateful for each person who has contributed their time. But it also takes all the people behind the scenes, paid or not….. to make it happen…and with a combination of that type of devoted group of people… well… this sport will thrive….

We had an unbelievable amount of volunteers show up for our show on Sunday… and it was so wonderful to see so many of you back again!!!... I think we’re getting to be a unique little family!!.. For those of you who want to compete instead of volunteer next year!!.. You need my approval!!! LOL!!!! Thank you all for coming!!!

This October 1st War Horse Event Series at Feather Creek Farm Horse Trials is wholeheartedly dedicated to the many people who donated their time, in the extreme weather, to make sure that this event could take place.

…. A friend of mine said a little bit ago…. It’s not just the village but the dedicated and passionate people that keep Eventing alive. And she’s right!! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!!! … with all my heart!!!!

Beth Stoker is handling all stabling assignments so if you need stabling, please let her know as soon as possible. Please do not call any facility owners that you have stayed with before and make your own reservations. That may cause overbooking. If there is a barn you'd like to stay at please let her know and she will do her best to accommodate.

If you are planning on schooling on Saturday and/or compete on Sunday please make sure you send your forms in to Beth in advance of the weekend. You must be signed up for either or both days by closing date September 22, 2023. No same day sign-ups.

All documents for participation on September 30th & October 1st can be found on the Feather Creek website. In addition, information about the War Horse Event Series & Championship at the Carolina Horse Park can be found at War Horse Event Series | Feather Creek Farm.

"Did you know fun fact": when filling out the entry form for a USEA recognized horse trial did you know that when they request the signature for the "Trainer" on the back of the entry, the "Trainer" is the person who cares for the horse while it is at the show, not the person who coaches you?

If anyone has any questions about the upcoming schooling weekend and show, please contact Beth. Hope to see you at the end of September!

WITH THIS COMMUNITY…. IT’S EVEN BETTER!!!!

I have to say that I am so proud and honored to be part of this community…… There is no way, in a million years, that I could have pulled this off without each and everyone of you…..

It took a little bit to get the series here… and how awesome that, even with a little windstorm coming through, we were able to hold the show!!! The tenacity, perseverance and all out determination that everyone showed up with… to make it happen…. Well… who wouldn’t want to be part of this community!!

I’m putting a slide show together… (it’s going to take a minute)…. But I want all of you to see how much work… all of you put into making this show happen!!!!

Sorry for the confusion...!!

03/21/2023

UPDATE ON HORSE TRIALS FOR APRIL 9th!!

I wanted to let everyone know that I am going to limit the entries for this show to 60 horses... The reason being is that I only want to use one dressage ring.... and that will be the lower sand arena....

Out of caution.. I don't want anyone yet... to go behind where the indoor arena used to.... It's cleared... but I want to make 100 percent sure... it's cleared.. so... my decision to only have one dressage ring going..... and usually one ring can run 60 riders!!

Joi Rodriquez has 6 stalls left
816-304-5015

Shelby Kribbs - has 5 stalls left
Legacy Equine Ranch
858-209-3007

If everyone could get their entries in as soon as you can.... It'd help a lot!!!

Again!!.. Thank you to every one of you who has helped make this show happen!!! This community is the best!!!!! Thank you!!!

I"M SORRY FOR THE DELAY IN THE UPDATE......

I am very sorry that I haven’t updated everyone in the last week….. It’s been a little overwhelming in the last few days…. When Michelle started texting me last Sunday night… asking if I was watching the news… I said no…since my electricity had already gone out…. (thank goodness my phone was still charged!! Lol, to everyone who knows me!)… She told me the tornado was going to hit me soon… I said …”of course”… and she texted and said “NO” it’s going to hit you now….. well… I took Diggs and Tinkerbell into the bathroom…. And sure enough… the front of my house started to lift up and the windows all shattered…. I opened the bathroom door for a second… and saw my front door blast down my hallway into my bedroom…. I figured I’d stay in the bathroom for a bit longer!….

But the hardest thing was when I heard the indoor arena completely crunch… into a million pieces…. And I heard it blow away…..All I could think of was that our horses were going to be hurt past what we could even imagine….. Michelle came up minutes after the storm left… and it was such an incredible miracle…… (and does it matter who you believe in??)… not one of them had a scratch… (well one little pony who had a scratch on his nose… but he usually puts his nose where it shouldn’t belong!!)……. We truly couldn’t breathe walking into the barns…. And it took everything we had to walk into something we had no idea what was going to be on the other side……… But oh my goodness……. Not one thing on earth, ever, will ever be better than that sight of all those noses looking out of their stalls, and asking if it was time for another couple of flakes of hay!!!.... And we truly hugged every one of them…… and I don’t think anyone stopped crying for a very long time… I think it’s been longer than a week………

I hope no one ever goes through something like this…. But if you do…. I hope that you will all have the same incredible support from the people around you, that Michelle and I have had… I guess it makes you believe again, in things that are good…..(cause sometimes, as we all know that’s hard…)… but this time… we both felt it…. I’ve got a few things to do in the next few days…. So just don’t have time to post pictures…. NOT one of them will be of the destruction….all will be of the INCREDIBLE people who came out and have put Feather Creek back together!!! (we’re almost there!!!)…… I can not thank ALL of you who have taken your time, your tools and your experience to come and help this weekend….(from fixing my poor little car, thanx OW!!)!!.. fixing the stadium fence.. all of you!!!!..... Thank goodness for shovels, ingenuity.. and just down right grit!!! Cause truly that was the gaiting factor for the April Event!!!... Thanx to you guys who came and made it happen!!! ..... thank you… to all of you who were here!!!!..... Stadium… that was going to be the biggest obstacle to running the event in April… and oh my goodness!! Tada!!!!!… people saying they’ll fix my stadium standards.. running magnets over the entire grass ring….. clearing up the upper sand ring… Magnets running up there as well!!!.... AND… OF COURSE THE XC!!!.. It looks almost new… (well sort of!!)… but do we have a ton of new logs for new fences!!... All of you helping all of us make the War Horse Event Series happen in April….. WITH EVERYTHING MICHELLE AND I HAVE……. And with everything you’ve all done together….

From both of us ………

Thank you….. and I guess.. we’ll all Keep Kicking….

The War Horse Event Series on the April 8th and 9th weekend….. IS ON!!!!!! So Pass it on!!!... We’ll see all of you then!!! And that’s because everyone who does believe……. made it happen!!!!!

And remember: It’s Better Together!!!!

UPDATE ON SPONSORS FOR THE WAR HORSE EVENT SERIES AT FEATHER CREEK – APRIL 9th

In the last couple of months, I was able to secure a number of sponsors for April’s event!! Yanmar, who graciously sponsored Feather Creek last year.. will be sponsoring one of the first prizes for each division, which for this event… will be a buckle!! So riders from Grasshopper up through Modified will be getting their own buckle!!

The other 1st prize that will go along with each buckle is the following!

Modified: Antares will also be sponsoring a bridle and martingale
Training: Sagmae will be sponsoring a bridle
Jr. & Sr. Novice – Ogilvy Half Pad
Jr. & Sr. BN – Ogilvy Half Pad
Jr. & Sr. Starter – Banixx Captain’s Chair
Introductory – Banixx Captain’s Chair
Grasshopper - Banixx Captain’s Chair

Captivation Photography will also be giving a free photo to the 1st place winner for each division.

2nd Place
Feather Creek Lunch Bag with Banixx Products!!

I'm also working on a combined low point score prize for both the April and October event.... and it's pretty cool!!!

As a quick reminder... In order to qualify for the War Horse Championships at The Carolina Horse Park (November 10th - 12th).. you either have to place 1st - 6th at either Feather Creek event... OR complete both shows.... Beth will be sending the results to the CHP secretary... and I'll be posting after each show... so that you'll know if you qualify!!...

The Officials for April 9th are:
Dressage - Ring 1- Ana Schravesande - TX
Dressage - Ring 2 - Wendy Wergeles - CA
Stadium Judge - Cheryl Davis - NC

I am changing the format this year, so that we will be running dressage, cross country and then stadium… I’d like to be able to have Neal Snow (Owner of the Yanmar Dealerships), and Marc Donovan (Director of the CHP).. hand out the ribbons & prizes!.. And then have a victory gallop!! Scoring has been set up so we will have the final results pretty quickly!! Scores will be posted both by the Club House and down by the Stadium Ring….

I wanted to let everyone know the news of our sponsors and the change in the format!!!…

Next Monday is opening day… a few people have asked me, if they could drop off their entries at Feather Creek…. And I know all of you know… that if you hand them to me... I will either lose them or make mistakes!!! LOL!!!.. So please mail your entries to Beth Stoker!!! She will be handling all entries and questions!!! (entry forms are on my website: feathercreekfarm.net)

Looking forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks!!! Good Luck with the next few shows!!

Exciting Announcement from the Carolina Horse Park!

As some of you know, I have been working with the Carolina Horse Park in Raeford, NC, for the last two years on a long-term project. I set out to inquire if the Park would be interested in expanding their successful War Horse Event Series (WHES) to a nationally recognized schooling series. With that in mind, I worked with their Organizing Committee to consider Feather Creek Farm as an expansion location. While the official plan took a few months to coordinate, the idea was an immediate success and just weeks ago the Carolina Horse Park officially announced the partnership. I'm very excited!

The War Horse Event Series was created to provide an inexpensive opportunity to educate, build strong foundations, and train young horses and riders. I will move forward with the same format that the Carolina Horse Park uses for the WHES with all requirements adhering to USEA rules. A fun addition to the Feather Creek event, Cathy Wieschhoff will be here in January to build a Modified course, which is a relatively new division to the sport and one that is included in the WHES. Each November qualified Feather Creek competitors are encouraged to attend the WHES Championships at the Carolina Horse Park.

I have also been hard at work on a new website, and it is now up and running, so please check it out at www.feathercreekfarm.net. As we move ahead, WHES news will be posted on the Feather Creek page and the new website, as well as on the Carolina Horse Park platforms. Heads up ... all 2023 Horse Trial and Clinic dates are now posted on the website!

Thank you to everyone for the support in this new adventure!

IT TRULY TAKES A VILLAGE!!!!

Last weekend was such a fun event… because there were so many participants… riders, volunteers, spectators … and finally… a spectacular sponsor…. DeMeulemester and have been such a phenomenal company to work with ….

It was suggested in April that maybe I spend a few minutes working on Stadium (!!)… and I’m showing the picture of what the stadium fence line looked like before (oh my!!), and what it is looks like now (thank goodness) …. Jane has helped so much in making the change… and I can’t thank her enough…. We had Captain's chairs for first place ... As well... she has such an appreciation for volunteers, that she also supported all of them with additional products, for coming out and helping the sport!!... Thank you, Jane!!

I wanted to wait until I collected photos from last weekend, so that I could share the atmosphere of the weekend!!.. and again, say Thank you everyone for coming...

For those of you who would like to look at your photos from last weekend, please go to: www.captivation.photography or call Chelsea at 240.475.1147

For those of you who didn't pick up everything when was here... please call Jamie at: 316.305.0114

is always a wonderful sponsor... and if you don't have one her spectacular browbands... you need one!! My entire group has one for Dressage and Jumping!!.. I love them!! Debora can be reached at: 713.203.1097

And last but not least is , a Yanmar dealership.... they started sponsoring Feather Creek this April.. with vehicles for the show... and it has made a significant difference in getting jump judges and officials to where they need to go.. and helping with starting on time !!! LOL!!

I truly want to thank everyone of you who helped, rode, showed up and made a difference!!...

Keep Kicking,

Dynah

RESULTS FROM THIS WEEKEND ARE BELOW!!!!

Goodness… this weekend was one of the funniest we’ve had!!.. We had 65 horses schooling here on Saturday… and 92 horse trotting down center line on Sunday!!! And “almost without any glitches”!!!! (sort of!!) But a show that had so many volunteers helping… made it go as smoothly as it did!!! Again,… thank you to all of you who helped so much!!

As always… any organizing team, ALWAYS, says thank you to the volunteers… you are the absolute glue that holds this sport together… Yes, there are SO many hours and so much work that goes on before the show… but if we did not have all of you to make it run…. This sport would be dead….. Thank you from the bottom of all the riders and the organizers hearts!!!

As an fyi… There was a focused effort on this event on changing the stadium ring/course.. I was told by some experts that I spend too much time on Cross Country!! LOL .. Cheryl .. Vicki.. any thoughts!!!! So that's why the ring entrance and the new focus on stadium fences was what I spent a lot of time on, for this event!!!

I want to make a point on something about unsolicited volunteer help… because it was so critical and crucial to this event being as successful as it was…. In the last few months, I have had quite a few people who have called, again, unsolicited, to come and help make this event better… and called and asked if I could use help with fences… They came up for 2 days… and painted over 20 fences…. It was such a nice offer from Area V….. thank you, you guys!!….. , helped make the show jumping ring and dressage rings happen…. , also helping with the show jumping ring, Pecan grove, and the teaching of generators (!) which made it a lot easier to get things done!…. … all the new mounds and the new water complex!!... and … everything else!!.. The course wouldn’t have been complete without all of those!! Thank -you sir!!

But I want to acknowledge the one person who has TRULY made the organizing of volunteers (which is almost insurmountable)…. Look easy!! … you are truly tireless in all the areas that you help with… and there is NO doubt this could not have happened without you!!.. Well, maybe not without John too!!… I finally had one of his famous pancakes that he makes for the volunteers… I think I had maple syrup with a pancake (because the syrup was Canadian, of course!!)!!! Thank you Fran and John!!!! From all the riders and organizers in this area!!!!

Thank you to all the riders who came…. I don’t mean to diminish how vital everyone’s role is in these events…It truly takes a village to have a successful event!!! so thank you for coming!!.. and making this a very fun event!!!... It was so fun having and seeing all of you again!!.. Thank you RF for coming!!!

Thank you everyone for coming... and Good Luck with the rest of your season!!!

Keep Kicking!

TIMES ARE POSTED ON STARTBOX!

There is a time glitch for some of the Sr. BN riders for XC... I spoke with Tech Support at StartBox.. and we couldn't seem to resolve it... So there are 7 riders who have the same times .. I will re-post times here this evening for you guys!... but at least wanted to get all the other times up!!

As an update... We will be having a designated person, John Sharp to help anyone who has a question. He says he takes compliments but will also takes concerns!!.. He'll be in The Club House (show office) .... he's also infamous for his pancakes that he makes for the volunteers on Sunday morning!!

This will be a busy weekend... running the HT's, CT's and dressage tests... there will be over 90 horses on the property!! There have been so many people helping to get the courses ready... but as all of us know... sometimes something gets missed... John's sole purpose will be to answer questions and make sure that if he can't solve it, he will get the right person on the walkie talkie, so we can reduce any confusion on working out a situation!! John has graciously volunteered for this position... So please work with him if something needs looking into!!

Good Luck this weekend to everyone!!

Keep Kicking!!!
