WoW! The Art Exhibit is the best ever! Iris has yet out done herself again curating some of the most FANTASTIC artwork in Ojai--Gallery & Hall cases are Amazing! The Art Center exterior, the Entryway are awash in Ojai Mardi Gras memorabilia, artwork, photos...you HAVE to come see it all! Great work, ya'll! Let the godd times roll........C Ya'll tomorrow and Sunday!

Thanks to all Fools who showed at the Studio today! Everything's done--built, painted, glued, sewed, mannikins dressed (!, yes, "Wizards!!!") --all ready to load tomorrow and install on Friday -- all brave, strong, men & women Krewe needed for load-in and set-up on Friday 9am at the Ojai Art Center.. hot coffee & lunch provided! Wear you rain gear & boots! We ARE Brave Fools--neither rain nor snow....

There has been some discrepancy about the time for the Artist Reception. It will be Sunday March 2nd at 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Live music, munchies and wine and beverages!

Seems there is a "bug" going around, and with hopes not to spread it there will be no Art Krewe work until Sun. Then we go back to the regular schedule.

Sun 1-3


Studio is open all week and if you have a project in process and want to work on days not listed no problem. Just let yourself in. Be sure to turn off all lights etc. when you leave.

Things are starting to come together. Special thanks to my workshop Wizards - Roy, Debbie, Laura, Shannon, Sandy, Katie, Judy and Holly. As always our gracious hosts Laura and Chris.

IT’S A GO!….. THE MARDI GRAS WILL BE HELD AT THE ART CENTER. Date, Sat. March 1st.

Set up Fri. Feb. 28th and Sat. morning if needed. The take-down will take place Sun. March 2nd before and after the Art Reception that will be held that afternoon.

WE ARE READY FOR THE ART KREWE TO BRING THE WORLD OF THE “WIZARDS OF ODD” TO LIFE!

Art Krewe Studio Hours up to event:
Mon., Tues, Wed. 2-5, Sat. 1-5 and Sun. 1-3. If you have a project you are working on and want to come another time no problem. Chris and Laura are OK with it. Just go to the studio and work.

Chris and Laura have been generous again this year and are giving us their space to work in. Roy and I brought over lots of things from the storage unit on Sat. Please make every effort to come and help. I will have the diorama of the hallway and the entrance design at the studio so you can see the entire project and you can select things you want to work on. I promise you we will have lots of fun working together. Music, merriment and mischief always.

***We are still in need of standing mannequins. The kind you use to sew with or store mannequins would work just fine as Wizards. Having them is critical to the design. If you have one please bring it. If not ask a friend to lend us one.
Please feel free to bring friends or family to help. There are many projects that just require following the dotted lines…

CALL FOR ARTISTS FOR THE Ojai Mardi Gras 2014 EXHIBIT!
Theme: "Wizards of Odd"

The Ojai Mardi Gras Art Fools, will be holding an open juried show for the month of March 2014. The Ojai Mardi Gras theme for 2014 is “Wizards of Odd”. Throughout history Wizards have come in all forms… magic makers, keepers/protectors of secret wisdom, creators of mystic brews to change the world and we continue today to create Wizards in movies like the “Wizard of Oz and Harry Potter.
All artwork submitted must relate to that theme. The Ojai Mardi Gras Art Fools looks forward to accepting two and three dimensional works of art. You must be an Ojai Art Center member to enter. Membership for the year is $35.00 or a temporary membership for the month is $10.00. Please contact Iris Williams at 640-6558 if you have any questions about the show.

Entry Date: Please email photos of artwork to [email protected] by February 8th 2014.
You will be notified if your entry is accepted by February 15th.
Reception: Sunday March 3rd 3:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M
(Immediately following the Ojai Mardi Gras Fais-Do Do Dance Party)
Take Down: Thursday March 27th 12:30 - 3:30
Fee: $10 each art piece or 3 art pieces for $25
Sales: The Ojai Art Center will handle all sales, including sales tax. A 30% commission to the Art Center will
be charged on all sales.

All pictures must be framed, unless on gallery wide canvas and must be securely wired for hanging. No saw tooth hangers, no clip frames, no wet paint, please. Three dimensional work must be free-standing and no more than 4’ in height. No artwork previously shown at the Art Center Gallery will be accepted. Please fill out the entry form below and attach to right hand side of painting.

LIABILITY: Every precaution will be taken in handling the artwork: however, no liability for damages or loss can be assumed by the Art Center, its volunteers, or the Ojai Mardi Gras Wake-Up! Krewe, Inc. All exhibiting artists must be members of the Art Center (a 30 day membership is available for the purchase price of $10.00. A regular year membership for an individual is $30.00). If the artist wishes to insure his/her work he/she must provide that insurance.

Finished the MAJOR work building, painting, cutting, tie (-ing one on!), just some small stuff, tweaking, WE STILL NEED yellow/amber, orange lights!!!! Thanks to ALL who came to The Studio to "Art Fool!" Now, again, we STILL NEED YELLOW/AMBER/ORANGE LIGHTS!!!
